Eligibility Criteria of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE)

WBJEEB Examination Authority has published the WBJEE 2025 Eligibility Criteria and the information brochure on the official website. Candidates willing to apply for WBJEE 2025 must meet the eligibility criteria for WBJEE 2025 before filling out the WBJEE online application form. The conducting authority will review all of the requirements during admission. Eligibility for the WBJEE is based on age and educational background.

  • According to the WBJEE 2025 age criteria, the candidates must be a minimum of 17 years old as of 31st December 2025.
  • There is no upper age limit. However, if the students are applying for the Marine Engineering stream, They should be a maximum of 25 years old as of 31st December 2025.

Academic Qualifications for WBJEE 2025

  • Engineering: Physics and mathematics are required as primary courses in 10+2 coupled with Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, computer science, and computer application as a third subject for admission to an engineering institution.
  • Chemistry, biology, biotechnology, computer science, and Computer Application must be taken as the third subject in 10+2 to get admitted to Pharmacy courses.
  • Candidates taking the WBJEE must have obtained at least 45 percent in each of the three topics. There is, however, a 5% relaxation of restricted categories, i.e. 40% for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B and PwD. Additionally, candidates must have passed the English test with at least a 30 percent grade in 10+2.

Eligibility criteria in WBJEE 2025 for state domicile candidates

Candidates must be Indian citizens, according to WBJEE Eligibility 2025. Any state's residents can apply. The domicile certificate will be valid exclusively for admission to government-sponsored institutions and WBJEE reservation claims.

  • The state domicile can apply under the Tuition Fee Waiver seat (TFW).
  • The candidate is considered a West Bengal domicile if they have lived in West Bengal for the previous ten years by 12th December 2025, or if one or both of their parents are West Bengal residents with a permanent residence in the state.

Institute-wise eligibility criteria for WBJEE 2025

University of Calcutta

Calcutta University is a public university in Calcutta, India. The common Requirements for all the courses is provided below (excluding the Jute & Fiber stream)

  • Candidates must have cleared the 12th Board examinations with minimum qualifying marks. Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are required subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: 60 percent in the above three subjects (55 percent for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD).
  • Candidates must have received at least a 35% grade in English.

Jute & Fiber Technology

  • Minimum Qualification: Pass Class 12th or equivalent examination in regular class mode from a recognized council or board.
  • Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry are required subjects, as are biotechnology and biology.
  • Minimum Marks: 60 percent in the above three subjects (50 percent for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD).
  • Candidates must have received at least a 35% grade in English.

West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences

Course in B.Tech. Dairy Technology

  • The candidate must be a West Bengal resident.
  • Candidates must pass the WBJEE 2025 exam.
  • Minimum Requirements: Pass the Class 12th or equivalent examination in a regular class style from a recognized council or board.
  • Mathematics, physics, chemistry, and English are required subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: 50 percent in the above four subjects (40 percent for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD).

Aliah University

  • Minimum Qualification: Pass a recognized Council/Board examination in Class 12th or equivalent.
  • Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are required subjects with a total of 100% in each subject.
  • Minimum Scores: 60% in PCM overall, with individual pass grades in all three topics.

Sister Nivedita University

Courses in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and electrical engineering are all available.

  • Minimum Requirements: Pass a recognized council or class board's 12th or equivalent test.
  • Subjects that are required: Physics and Mathematics, as well as one of the following: chemistry, biotechnology, biology, computer science, biotechnology, or technical vocational education Subject

Applicants must meet the following admission conditions according to their preferred course for admission to Jadavpur University through WBJEE 2025:

  • Courses in engineeringTechnology and Pharmacy need a minimum of a Class 12 or equivalent examination taken in a normal class manner from a recognized council or board.
  • Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are required subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: 60 percent in the above three subjects (45 percent for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD).
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 60% in mathematics (45% for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD).
  • Candidates must have received at least a 30% grade in English.
  • Courses in Architecture
  • Pass a recognized council or class board's 12th or comparable examination as a minimum qualification in a regular class manner.
  • Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are required subjects.
  • Minimum marks: 50% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as a 50% aggregate in Class 12th (37 percent marks for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD).

Course-wise eligibility criteria for WBJEE 2025

In 2025, two main courses will be offered: maritime engineering and a 5-year architectural degree. Candidates who wish to apply for this course must satisfy the WBJEE 2025 eligibility criteria.

A 5-Year Architecture Degree Program

Except for Jadavpur University, the following criteria apply to the 5-year degree program in architecture at any WBJEE 2025 participating institutes:.

  • According to the Council of Architecture's (COA) norms and standards, no candidate with a cumulative grade point average of less than 50% will be admitted to the B.Arch program unless they have passed an examination at the end of the new '10+2' scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of examination at the 10+2 level.
  • In addition, the candidate must pass either the COA's NATA or JEE Main Paper 2.

A bachelor's degree in marine engineering

  • Minimum Qualification: Pass a recognized Council/Board examination in Class 12 or equivalent.
  • Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are required subjects.
  • Minimum Grades: 60% in PCM, with distinct pass marks in each of the three topics.
  • A minimum of 50% in English as a subject in either 10th or 12th grade is required.
