TNEA 2025 Counselling & Admission

Counselling & Admission of Anna University Engineering Entrance (TNEA)

Students who qualify for the TNEA rank list 2025 become eligible for the counseling rounds. The rank list, scheduled to be released in June 2025, is prepared by considering marks obtained in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, which are then reduced to 200 (Maths - 100, Physics + Chemistry- 100). However, for the vocational TNEA Rank List, marks are considered in Maths (100 marks) and the vocational subject, including practical and theory (100 marks).

TNEA 2025 Rank List

The TNEA 2025 rank list Selection Criteria involves the following steps:

Step 1: Reducing Scores to 200:

  • Students' selection will be based on marks obtained in specific subjects, reduced to 200 (Maths: 100, Physics + Chemistry: 100) in the qualifying exam.

Step 2: Converting the reduced scores to normalized scores:

  • Students' marks in relevant subjects from exams conducted by different Boards or Authorities will be equated with marks obtained by students in the same subjects from exams conducted by the State Board of Tamil Nadu using the normalization method.

TNEA 2025 Merit List

The TNEA 2025 merit list is created based on the marks obtained in relevant subjects, namely, Maths, Physics, and Chemistry, which are reduced to 200 (Maths – 100, Physics – 50, and Chemistry – 50).

After normalizing marks in relevant subjects from different Boards, qualified students are combined into a common merit list. The official TNEA website publishes the overall rank and community rank. A week is allotted for addressing students' concerns after the rank is published. If there are grievances, students can contact the office of the Secretary, TNEA, at the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, 600025.

For tie-breaking in the TNEA counselling merit list:

In instances where multiple students achieve identical marks in the general merit list, the inter-se-merit among them is established based on the following priority sequence:

  • Random number assigned
  • Percentage of marks in Maths
  • Percentage of marks in Physics
  • Date of birth
  • Percentage of marks in the optional subject
  • Percentage of total marks in 12th Standard Exam
  • Percentage of total marks in 10th Standard Exam
