The Vellore Institute of Technology, commonly known as VIT Vellore, was founded in 1984 as Vellore Engineering College. The government of India now recognizes it as an Institution of Eminence and the No. 1 private institution for innovation. The Vellore Institute of Technology is part of the VIT Group of Institutes, which also operates and manages campuses in Bhopal, Chennai, and Amaravati. VIT Vellore offers UGC recognized courses.
