The UPSC has notified today due to lack of vacancy in the posts of Geologist and Geophysicist the posts have been removed from the combined UPSC Geo-Scientist Exam 2021.
The UPSC has released the application forms in the online mode that is in the official website and candidate’s shall fill the form and submit the completed form before October 27, 2020. After the removal of two posts, there is been 2 new posts added by UPSC in this exam namely Scientist-B (Geophysics) and Scientist-B (Chemical). The post of Junior Hydrogeologist has been renamed as Scientist B (Hydrogeology).
It is been notified that two new Services is been added Scientist-B (Chemical), Group A and Scientist-B (Geophysics), Group A and the post of Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) has been renamed as Scientist-B (Hydrogeology).
"Besides, two new Services have been added in this examination viz. Scientist-B (Geophysics), Group A and Scientist-B (Chemical), Group A and the post of Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) has been renamed as Scientist-B (Hydrogeology)," it has added in the notification.
Currently UPSC Geo-Scientist 2021 exam will be conducted to fill 16 Scientist B (Hydrogeology) posts, 15 Chemist posts in Geological Survey of India, 6 Scientist B (Geophysics) posts and 3 Scientist B (Chemical) posts in Ministry of Water Resources, Central Ground Water Board.
Candidates will be selected to these posts through a preliminary exam, main exam followed by an interview. The preliminary exam will be a computer based test comprising of two papers. Candidates qualifying the preliminary exam will be shortlisted and be eligible for the main exam. For deciding the final merit marks secured in the preliminary examination as well marks obtained in the main exam and the interview round performance will be considered.
