The SRMJEEE entrance exam 2025 pattern has been modified this year. One important update is that candidates will now have to attempt 130 questions, which is an increase from the previous 125. This change includes the addition of five extra questions. Moreover, the exam structure has been slightly changed. Earlier, there were five separate sections, but now they have been made into four. The English and Aptitude sections have been merged into a single section. This newly combined section will feature a total of 20 questions.
Earlier, there were five questions in English and 10 questions in the aptitude sections. The other sections in SRMJEE remain unchanged. The marking scheme is the same as last year, where each correct answer will get 1 mark. Additionally, there will not be any negative markings for wrong answers. With the recent changes, the SRMJEEE exam total marks will be 130 instead of 125. The exam duration is the same as earlier, 2 hours and 30 minutes. SRMJEEE 2025 will be conducted in a remote format where candidates can take the exam from home in a strict environment.
To ensure a better evaluation process and keep up with academic changes, SRM Institute of Science and Technology has introduced a few changes in the exam. These modifications will alter the number of questions, section structure and overall exam experience. Here is a detailed breakdown of all the changes introduced in the revised exam pattern.
One of the biggest changes in the exam pattern is the increase in the total number of questions. In SRMJEEE 2024, the exam had 125 questions. However, in SRMJEEE 2025, the total number of questions has been increased to 120. This change means that students will have an additional five questions to attend. Despite the increase, the exam duration is the same at 2 hours and 30 minutes. Students have to manage their time more efficiently to attempt all 130 questions within the timeframe.
Previously, the exam had five separate sections – Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology, English and Aptitude. In contrast, in the current SRM University entrance exam 2025, English and Aptitude sections have been most into a single section. Earlier, English had 5 questions, and aptitude had 10 questions. Now, the combined section will contain 20 questions. The addition of five questions is in this section compared to previous years. This restructuring reduces the number of overall sections while maintaining the subject-wise focus.
With the updated SRMJEE exam pattern 2025, the distribution of questions has changed slightly. From the table below, candidates can evaluate that Maths or Biology, Physics, and Chemistry remain unchanged, while English and Aptitude have more questions due to their merger.

Even though the total number of questions has increased, the marking scheme is the same. Each correct answer in SRMJEEE question paper will be given 1 mark. The SRM exam pattern negative marking is absent for any incorrect answers. Since the total number of questions has increased to 130, the SRMJEEE total marks will also be 130. Candidates can attempt all questions without fear of losing marks.
Since the exam duration is the same, 2 hours 30 minutes, candidates must adjust their time management strategies to answer the increase in the number of questions. Earlier, candidates had approximately 72 seconds per question. Now, candidates have about 69 seconds per question. This means that students will need to be faster and more efficient in answering. To improve time management, candidates must practice more mock tests and prioritize easier questions first.
One important aspect of SRMJEEE 2025 is that it will be in remote proctor mode. Candidates can take the exam from home instead of going to a physical exam centre. However, there will be strict online proctor measures to ensure fairness. Students must have a stable internet connection, a quiet examination environment and a webcam to avoid disqualification.
