Admission to B. Des and M. Des at NID is based on the NID Ahmedabad Entrance Exam (NID DAT). It comprises two stages that is NID DAT Prelims and NID DAT Mains. The final selection is made on the basis of a combined score of both stages. For Ph D admission, a candidate will be asked to take the NID Design Research Test (DRT) and then will be given a Personal Interview. The mode of the NID Ahmedabad application form-filling process is entirely online.

NID DAT Entrance Exam 2025
The NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT) is a national entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Design (NID) for admission to its B.Des and M.Des programs.
The exam has two stages:
The final result is based on the combined scores of both Prelims and Mains. There are 425 seats for B.Des and 347 seats for M.Des across NID campuses. B.Des is offered at five campuses: NID Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam. The M.Des program is available at three campuses: NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Bangalore.

The NID Entrance Exam 2025 Registration Process is ongoing. Whereas, NID DAT 2025 Registeration last date is 3rd December 2024. The mode of registration process is entirely online. Candidates are required to visit the official website to apply online. NID DAT 2025 Application Fees is INR 3000 for the general category and INR 1500 for the reserved category.
How to Apply for NID DAT 2025?
Step 1: Registration and Login: Fill out the NID DAT 2025 Online registration form with details like email address, mobile number, nationality, etc.
Step 2: Fill in the Application Form: Following this is filling up the application form by adding personal and academic details for each individual. For applicants of M. Des, add work experience as well.
Step 3: Document Upload: Scanned copies of your photograph, signature and any other certificates that you may want to upload, like caste and disability certificates.
Step 4: Payment of Fees and Print: Pay the registeration fee online via debit/credit card or net banking. Once you have filled in all the details, take a printout of the same form.
NID DAT Application Correction 2025
Application Correction window for NIT DAT 2025 will be available between 4 to 9 December 2024 for both B.Des and M.Des. This period will enable candidates to edit specific details on an application form. Some information, such as the name, email ID, mobile number and course name, cannot be edited. But, You could correct details such as an exam center, address, and uploaded documents. This facility will provide you with a good opportunity to correct mistakes before final submission.
The NID entrance exam is separated into two parts. First, candidates will have to appear for the NID Prelims Exam 2025, and if shortlisted, then they will go to the NID Mains Exam 2025. Candidates who come to sit for the NID entrance examination have to follow some procedure according to the disciplines they have opted for. A candidate appearing for one discipline will attempt just one test paper as per the choice. However, when it comes to two disciplines, they will have to appear for two papers, that is, DAT Prelims, for both their choices of disciplines.

The shortlisting of candidates for NID DAT Mains shall be based on their performance in NID DAT Prelims. The qualifications would also be indicated on the scorecard of NID DAT Prelims. In the case of NID DAT Mains, a Studio Test shall be performed. In the case of the M.Des course, applicants will have to undertake the personal interview along with the Studio Test.
