On December 20, 2020 University of Kashmir (KU) and the Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) to increase awareness on rural management courses in Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh have jointly organized an online workshop.
The one day workshop was organized in collaboration with the University Of Kashmir School Of Business Studies. The chief resource persons who hosted the workshop were Prof Chethan Chittalkar Director of Rural Management, Dr. Prasanna Kumar Chairman of The Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Chaudhary Devi Lal University Prof Arti Guar, Ms Abilasha Bahugana from Leh and Dean School of Business Studies at University of Kashmir Prof S Mufeed Ahmad.
Prof Mufeed of University of Kashmir spoke a great give out about the current status of management education in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and especially in Kashmir University.
Professor Mufeed was heard saying that, there is extensive opportunity for introducing MBA (Rural Management) in Jammu & Kashmir to make students more accessible to work. This course can be introduced as a full-fledged course or as an area of specialization in the current MBA programmes which can contribute regarding raising awareness in rural places over the key management areas like marketing.
Chairman of The Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Dr. Prasanna and Prof Chetan also spoke about the necessity of rural management programmes in colleges and universities in the workshop. Delegates spoke that these programmes need to be created so that students will be able to address the needs of the people in rural areas.
Chairman assured that they give their full support to the students in providing study materials, academics, and workshops and said that Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education was focusing on turning students into job providers instead of job seekers.
They concluded by saying that they would also assist in the introduction of rural management programmes adjacent to faculty development and capacity building programmes at Jammu & Kashmir, and its affiliated institutes and NIT Srinagar.
Mr. Kumar Abhishek coordinator of Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education in Jammu & Kashmir gave a detailed presentation on the syllabus of MBA in rural management.
Mr. Kumar Abhishek thanked Professor Mufeed Ahmad, and other faculty members of Kashmir University, Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor Islamia College Srinagar, Prof Rakesh Sehgal, Director NIT Srinagar and NIT Srinagar for providing their support to the workshop.
