Due to the Covid-19 Lockdown, Many Educational Institutes conducting online classes and also in some of the colleges conducting online examinations as an exertion to be academically fair. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) started conducting mid-semester exams through online mode. Regarding this vice chancellor of JNU M. Jagadesh Kumar has twitted to make an announcement and also stated that to complete the academic necessities mid semester exams are conducted for the candidates who are pursuing M. Phil/Ph. D and for M.Sc. Degrees in school of environmental sciences, JNU. The online exams have been already started on 27th April 2020 and it may end up by 4th May 2020
Earlier on April 12th 2020 consultative meeting was held among vice chancellor registrar, chair persons of respective centers, rectors and Deans of school to discuss about conducting online examination and also they recommended JNU academic council for the approval.
On April 22nd 2020 JNU academic council approved the recommendations which was submitted by chair persons and Dean of schools and permitted to conduct mid semester exams in respective schools and centers through online due to the lockdown situation in country this decision was taken by the council
According to the source, in consultative meeting cancellation of summer holidays also been suggested but yet now there is no official announcement regarding cancellation. JNUTA (JNU Teachers Association) opposes the recommendations which was submitted by the authorities & deans and they have stated that "Practically & academically not feasible"
