Jamia Millia Islamia has decided to postpone JMI Odd Semester Exams based on the concern and protest against the online examinations. Exams which were suppose to starting from December 21, 2020, is postponed until further notice.
JMI online exam were supposed to take place in remote proctored mode. Several students protested in front of Jamia Millia Islamia VC's office on December 11 asking the board to postpone the exam . The protest started because of the online proctored exams that was not in favour of students, instead of that they wanted assignment based examinations or online open book examination.
The university decided to postpone the JMI odd semester exams 2020 taking consideration of the problems raised by the students.
Taking these problem and issues onto consideration JMI informed its decision of postponing the JMI exams to University regulator, i.e. University Grants Commission (UGC). The discussion between the university and UGC on how to move ahead with JMI odd semester exams is still pending.
The official notification by Jamia Millia Islamia says, "The University has apprised UGC of the concerns of the students and the decision of the university regarding mode of conduct of examinations. The directions/ guidelines from UGC on the matter are sought and still awaited."
However, the university is advised the students to continue attending their online classed and preparation for the exams till the further notice. Students can check the official website of Jamia Millia Islamia for further information.
