IIM Bangalore Admission/Selection Criteria PGP 2025-2027

The admission/ selection criteria for IIM Bangalore PGP MBA for the upcoming batch of 2025-2027 have been announced. IIM Bangalore admission eligibility requirement has no much change from last year's criteria, carrying a weightage of 55% for the CAT 2024 score in Pre-PI score. Apart from that, scores in 10th and 12th boards, graduation marks, work experience, and professional courses will also be considered for the shortlisting of interviews. Read below to get an idea of the latest admission process of IIM-B.

Selection/ Admission Criteria of IIM Bangalore 2025-2027-How does it impact you?

  • The CAT score is a heavyweight in both pre-PI and post-PI calculations. The minimum qualifying Percentage is 85% overall in CAT 2024 and 80% in each section.
  • DILR> VARC> QA. The three sections of the CAT 2024 exam have different points at the two shortlisting stages.
  • Academics comprise 30% of the marks, which are equally divided between 10th, 12th, and graduation marks. A good number in at least 2 of the metrics will help in getting a shortlist.
  • The Personal Interview comprises 40% of the marks in the final admission criteria, and the Written Ability tests have 10% points.
  • Work Experience accounts for 10% of marks at both stages of shortlisting. However, in the post-PI stage, the marks are given according to the quality of the work experience.
  • Gender Diversity Points (5%) are given for Interview Shortlisting but have no value for final admissions.

The first list is prepared based on a candidate's CAT percentile and sectional cut-offs in CAT 2024. IIM Bangalore admission selection criteria PGP 2025 2027 cut-off as per the previous batch under CAT 2023 are given below:

  • Note: Professional degrees include CA, CS, and ICWA. For candidates who have undergone a professional course and have work experience, the maximum work experience score and the professional course score are considered.

Calculation of Work Experience Points in the Pre-PI Stage

The following formula calculates the work experience points for the candidate, where x is the number of months in full-time work till 31st July 2024:

10*(x)/36, if 0 < x < 36
10 if x >= 36

Direct Shortlisting in Pre-PI

The candidates in the first list who meet the minimum percentile criteria and the top ten candidates in each of the following categories qualify directly for the interviews.

  • Candidates with eligible CAT scores
  • Degree scores
  • Professional scores (CA/ ICWA/ CS)

Application Process- Stage 2: Final Shortlisting to Admissions

The second stage of admission to IIM Bangalore comprises a Personal Interview (PI) along with a Written Ability Test (WAT). The candidates are then evaluated on the basis of a Post-PI Score for consideration into the final shortlists.

Different Weights are given to calculate the marks given for CAT for the Post-PI Stage.

Similar to the Pre-PI shortlists, the weightage given to each section of the CAT 2024 is different for the calculation of marks post-PI:

Calculation of Work Experience Points in the Post-PI Stage:

In the final admission shortlisting criteria, first, the points of Work-Experience scale down to 5 marks. During the interview, the panelists rate points for the quality of work experience: 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2. The average score given by each panelist is multiplied by the Pre-PI Score for final marks attributed to the candidate's work experience.
