How to calculate the CAT percentage from the obtained rankings
The CAT scores will be given out in both sectional marks and overall scores. In the below steps, you can learn how to calculate the given scores into percentiles.
Step 1: Known the total count of candidates who appeared for the exam.
The candidate must initially make a note of how many eligible students appeared for the CAT exam in both morning and evening sessions (this number is considered as N)
Step 2: Knowing the rank based on the secured scores.
The scales score is obtained for the candidate after the normalization process for each section and the overall scaled score. The candidate will be allotted or assigned a rank (say air) based on this score. If more than two candidates have secured the same marks in the same section or any section, they will be given the same rank.
Step 3: Calculation of CAT percentage score
P= gives the formula for computing the percentile (N-R/N) *100
Where
P =Percentagee of a candidate
N = Sum of number of candidates
R = Assigned rank to a candidate
Step 4: Lastly, round off
Candidates can round off the calculated percentages if there in two decimal points. All the sections of the CAT exam are calculated with a similar strategy. The given sections are VARC, DILR, and QA.
