How to solve GATE Mock Test before the Exam?

Mock tests are essential to solving before exams as they give you an accurate idea of how the exam will be. That’s why taking mock tests at the right time with the right strategy is important.

Solve Mock test papers: Pattern-wise

GATE exam consists of two sections: General Aptitude and Candidate-selected subject. There will be 65 questions in total: 10 questions in section I and 55 in section II.

There will be MCQs, MSQs, and NATs. You need to solve as many questions as you can in 180 minutes. However, make sure you only attempt the questions you are sure about since there is negative marking.

The General Aptitude section is always easy to solve. There are only 10 questions in this section.

Points to remember:

• Don’t give too much time to this section. Half an hour is enough time for this section.
• Attempt the questions you are sure about. Review them in the last 15 minutes of the exam. If you are not sure, mark them for review and move on.

Section II will be the subject you opted for. There will be 55 questions in this section.

Follow these instructions to perform well in the exam:

• Before the exam starts, take deep breaths and relax your mind.
• Solve the MCQs first, as they will be easier to solve than the NAT questions.
• Keep an eye on the time. Leave the last 15 minutes of the exam to look at the questions you marked for review.
• Use short tricks to solve the questions.
• If you feel like you will panic between the exam and forget the formulas, write the important formulas in your rough copy in the first 5 minutes of the exam.

When to Take the Mock Test

It would be best to start taking mock tests two months before your exam. If you haven’t had that much time left, try to take at least 5–10 mock tests before the exam.

Points to remember:

• Take at least 8 to 10 mock tests before the exam.
• Take mock tests section-wise and according to your preparation.
• While taking the mock test, track your time. It will help you enhance your performance.
• After solving the questions, cross-check the answers as well as the process. And check if you could have applied a short trick in any question.

The GATE exam 2022 will be held between 4th to 13th February 2022.

The test paper will begin & you will be given three hours to solve the mock test.
