MBA being the most chosen academic study in India and abroad, its preparation tips has remained at prime focus. Most of the national level competitive entrance examination like CAT, XAT, MAT and CMAT has common sections like Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability. Despite those common sections, some of the entrance exams also have a section named General Awareness of GK as one of the most critical component of the test. This General Awareness or GK test is considered to be the most crucial test so calculate the applicants know how in regards t general topics and current affairs.

 Mostly the applicants neglect the General Awareness section, as their prime focus will be on the preparation for other 3 key sections. Ignoring General Awareness or GK section will lead to loss of marks and eventually might miss the opportunities of getting through in some of the top colleges in India. Firstly let’s focus on the exam which includes General Awareness section. One of the most popular MBA entrance exams, CAT does not have General Awareness section. However, apart from CAT many popular MBA entrance exams like CMAT, XAT, SNAP, IIFT, IRMA and TISNET contains a dedicated section for General awareness question or has few questions related to GK as part of the test curriculum. Though some of the entrance exams do not consist of General Awareness question, it is likely to prepare for the same as it will be helpful for the applicants in cracking Group Discussions and Personal Interview rounds.

Secondly, here is why focusing of General Awareness is important? The General Awareness sections does not consist of any kind of tricky questions, or confusing questions or any questions related to solving. The General Awareness questions are direct and have definitive answers. Although there is no need to rigorously practice for General Awareness section like other conventional sections but GA or GK sections has equal weightage in terms of securing good score in the entrance exams as the section is considered to be the easy one.

Thirdly, let’s take a brief on General Awareness section exam pattern: The questions asked in the General Awareness section most likely consist of questions related to current affairs and latest happenings in the country that might be related to politics or economy etc. There are good score for the applicants to prepare for the General Awareness sections which will likely to help the applicants later in cracking GDPI rounds.

General Awareness sections consist of the same weightage that has to be given for other sections like Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability for securing a better score in the competitive exams and secure seat in the top MBA colleges in India.
