CMAT 2024 Score vs Percentile

CMAT 2024, organized by the NTA, took place on May 15. The CMAT 2024 Result is expected to be released soon. According to an analysis of the exam paper, the difficulty level this year was moderate. The highest CMAT cutoff in 2024 ranges from the 95th to 99th percentile, but many business schools also accept students with scores between the 50th and 60th percentile.

The CMAT answer key 2024 and response sheet will be posted on the official website. According to the testing agency, students can download the answer key for two to three days. Once the period for challenging the answer key is over, the NTA will announce the CMAT results and release the final answer key and merit list.

The CMAT score will grant admission to students at AICTE-approved institutions, universities, departments, and affiliated colleges. The CMAT 2024 exam had five sections: quantitative techniques and data interpretation, logical reasoning, language comprehension, general awareness, and innovation and entrepreneurship. Altogether, there were 100 questions worth 400 marks.

CMAT Score vs Percentile 2024

The CMAT score versus percentile for 2024 works like this: your raw score out of 400 marks in the CMAT exam is converted into a percentile. This percentile is calculated based on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam in your specific slot, the total number of students who took the exam, and the overall difficulty level of the exam.

The NTA has established a method to calculate the CMAT percentile from the raw score. For instance, a raw score of 170 in the CMAT might place you at the 65th percentile, while a score between 251 and 342 could place you between the 95th and 99.99th percentiles. The process of calculating CMAT scores versus percentiles involves several steps. Here’s how it works for MBA admissions:

  • The CMAT 2024 percentile is based on your total marks in the CMAT exam.
  • It considers both your raw sectional scores and your overall score.
  • Before calculating the percentile, your CMAT score is adjusted and normalized to account for the difficulty levels across different exam shifts.
  • This adjusted raw score is then converted into a scaled score.
  • Finally, the scaled score is translated into a percentile score.

Important Changes in CMAT Scoring Pattern 2024

On behalf of AICTE, the NTA has made several changes to the CMAT 2024 exam, including its scoring pattern and duration. Key changes are:

  • The CMAT 2024 exam lasts for 3 hours and includes 5 compulsory sections.
  • The exam is divided into 5 sections, each with 20 questions. The sections under CMAT are Quantitative Technique, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
  • There will be a total of 100 questions in the 3-hour exam.
  • All questions are objective type in the form of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
  • The difficulty level of the questions is easy to moderate.
  • Each correct answer is awarded +4 marks.
  • Each wrong answer results in a penalty of -1 mark.
  • There is no individual time limit for each section. Students can attempt any question from any section within the overall 3-hour time limit of the CMAT exam.
  • The merit score and percentile are calculated based on all sections of the exam.

Score Vs Percentile of CMAT  2024 for Admission

  • National Merit List: An All India Rank (AIR) for CMAT will be created based on the marks obtained out of the total marks.
  • Higher Percentile at Lower Score: For the 2024 scorecard, the relationship between CMAT score and percentile is expected to increase. A candidate scoring between 345 and 350 marks will likely achieve a 100 percentile. Similarly, a CMAT score between 285 and 340 marks is expected to fall within the 99 to 99.99 percentile range.
  • All Students in Merit List: The CMAT National Merit List includes everyone who takes the CMAT exam, with scores ranging from 50% percentile to a perfect 100 percentile. No one is disqualified from the exam.
  • Percentile Ranking Calculation: If multiple students have the same total score, their ranking is determined by their scores in specific sections, in this order: Logical Reasoning (LR), Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (QTDI), Language Comprehension (LC), General Awareness (GA). If scores are still tied, students with fewer negative responses and older students are ranked higher.
