Freshman year at home is like an adventure, life in a new city, new friends, and new life. You get to experience freedom but with that you get to be responsible and manage your time. Here are some best tips to survive your first year as an engineering student.
1) Procrastinating is bad
Best way to avoid procrastinating is to invest in a planner. When you have a planner you know how well you are doing in your academic life. DO NOT wait until the last minute to get your work/assignments done. It will make you lazy and stress you out in the end. This will definitely avoid you from drowning you in a sea of assignments. This is why I highly recommend a planner to keep up with your tasks.
2) Interact, meet your professors
Yes, they can be really intimidating but it’s all for your own good. They have of course been in your shoes and all they want is for you to succeed. They can help you with your doubts and assignments. Meet your professors often, talk to them regarding your classes. They are professionals and they can be a great source of network down the line.
3) Join a club, group studies
Being an engineering student you will have to get used to working in teams. Find someone who are you are comfortable with and start working, studying together. This helps to build your confidence and understand concepts which you might have missed out.
4) Eat healthy, your mental health matters
It’s very important to pay attention to your mental health. Engineering life can be stressful, make sure you eat healthy and drink lots of water. You can’t risk falling sick. Do not skip meals in fear of gaining weight.
5) Find the right textbook edition
Textbooks can be expensive so make sure you get the right textbook which helps you with assignments and exams. This way you can avoid wrong homework as well. Do not waste your time waiting for someone to finish their homework and help you with it.
