Bangalore University is a well-known, reputed state university. NAAC accredits BU Bangalore with an "A" Grade along with a score of 3.2. Besides, it has been recognized by UGC, AIU and ACU. The University came into existence in the year 1964. Bangalore University has bagged awards and rankings for its exceptional academic achievements throughout the years. It has been recognized at both the national and international levels. Bangalore University NIRF Rankings in 2021 was 101^st Rank Under Overall Category. Whereas in the 2020 NIRF Rankings, BU was positioned in the 100^th Rank. Thus, it is concluded as NIRF Top 100 Universities under the overall category. QS Ranking Framework has recognized Bangalore University at the international level. As per QS BRICS Rankings, BU was positioned in the 151^st Position. As per QS World Rankings 2020, BU secured a rank between 351-400 in Asia and 38^th in the Overall Category. Aside from achieving NIRF and QS Rankings, BU has been successfully recognized by certain ranking agencies at the National level. As per THE WEEK Hansa Research Survey, BU ranked at 15^th Position among Top-Multidisciplinary Universities in India. Under Top State Multidisciplinary institutes, BU bagged 9^th Rank. Whereas in South Zone, it has secured 5^th Position. In addition, Bangalore University secured 1^st Rank in Karnataka State among the Universities.

Academically, Bangalore University has been structured into six faculties: Science, Arts, Management, Education, Law, Engg, Commerce. It has 43 Post Graduate Departments, a Post Graduate Center in Kolar, three constituent colleges, and 665 affiliated colleges. The University offers a wide range of UG & PG courses as well as Certificate and Job oriented diploma certification courses. In addition, it offers distance education in certain courses. The University has opened 5 Integrated Courses in Biological Sciences, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Social Sciences, and Business Studies program, as well as a 4 year BS program.

Besides, Bangalore University provides a variety of scholorships to the meritorious and deserving students, based on state government and UGC guidelines.
