Eligibility Criteria for B Tech Admission in Tamil Nadu
Academic Qualification: Candidates who are willing to apply for B Tech Course in Tamil Nadu shall have passed in 10+2 examination with a required 50% aggregate score in the science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics must be the main subjects). If the candidates belong to SC/ ST/SCA/ DNC/ MBC can attain a minimum 40% aggregate score, and for BC Category, the minimum marks to get qualify 45%.
Domicile Rules: Tamil Nadu residents who have pursued education from Class 8 to 12 in Tamil Nadu state are eligible for admission. Such candidates can claim the government reservation guidelines, concession seat, or scholarship scheme to take B Tech admission. Candidates who have studied classes 8 to 12 in other states are also eligible to apply only if their parents are residents of Tamil Nadu. Such candidates must submit the Nativity certificate along with the application form.

Candidates seeking to get admission for B Tech need to register for TNEA Counselling by applying the application form via online mode. Candidates can check out the following steps to fill up the TNEA application form.
Step 1-Registration: At first, candidates must visit the official portal of TNEA, then click on the “registration” link. At this step, candidates must provide all the details, including a valid Email ID & Mobile Number. Upon successful registration, login credentials will be generated, and it will be sent for the candidate’s mail ID or mobile number.
Step 2- Filling up the TNEA application form: After completing the registration process, candidates need to fill up the application form by entering academic details.
Step 3- Upload the Documents: Candidates are required to upload the scanned images of educational certificates, photographs, and signatures as per the prescribed format.
Step 4: Print out of application form: After upload, the documents, candidates are required to submit the form and must download the same copy of the application form and take the print out of it, which may require during the counseling process.
Admission Process for B Tech in Tamil Nadu
Candidates who fulfill the above eligibility criteria are eligible to participate in the TNEA Counselling session, which will be conducted by Anna University to secure admission for B Tech courses, which are offered by both Government and Private aided Engineering Colleges at Tamil Nadu. TNEA Counselling for B Tech Admission in Tamil Nadu
Candidates who are shortlisted through the merit list can participate in the TNEA counseling session to secure admission for B Tech in Tamil Nadu. The Entire counseling process will be held online, and Anna University is responsible for conducting counseling sessions. The process concludes with different stages; candidates can check the following steps, which are mentioned below.
Step 1-Registration: At first, candidates need to visit the respective portal of TNEA and must register via online mode to participate in counseling sessions.
Step 2-Counselling Fees Payment: Candidates who have registered successfully must pay the counseling processing fees according to their category. TNEA Counselling fees for the general category costs INR 500 and for SC/ST Category fees costs INR 250.
Step 3-Option filling & Locking: TNEA choice filling option will be available for the candidates who have successfully paid the counseling processing fees. Candidates must choose the college and specialization according to their preference and should lock the choice. Candidates will get 3 consecutive days to fill up choices via online mode.
Step 4: Tentative seat allotment: After the option filling process, the system will tentatively allot the seat based on the candidate’s choice of preference and rank obtained. Once the tentative seat allotment process is done, candidates can either accept or decline the allotment option.
Step 5: Final Seat allotment: Finally, the authority will release the first list of TNEA seat allotment via online mode on its official website. To view the allotment order, candidates must log in to the TNEA portal by using their registered login credentials during the application process. After confirming the seat, candidates must report at the allotted institute and complete the document verification process.
