Eligibility Criteria for B Tech Admission in Karnataka
Academic Qualification: To get qualify for B Tech admission in Karnataka. Candidates should meet the prescribed eligibility criteria as per the norms of the examination authority. Candidates shall have passed in 10+2 examination in science stream with required 45% aggregate score from any recognized board (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as main subjects) whereas for the candidates who belongs to reserved category can attain minimum 40% aggregate score, 5% of relaxation is provided as per the norms of government.
Domicile Rules: Candidates who have completed their education in Karnataka for the duration of a minimum of 7 years are eligible to apply for B Tech admission in Karnataka through the KCET score. Students from outside of Karnataka and students from the Hyderabad-Karnataka region can apply for B Tech admission through the COMEDK-UGET score. In some of the private engineering colleges of Karnataka reserved certain seats for the candidates who belong to the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
Admission Process for B Tech in Karnataka
The B Tech Programme in Karnataka will be granted based on academic merit and based on the KCET, COMEDK, or JEE Main Entrance Exam. To get quality, candidates must clear any of the following entrance exams.
Karnataka B Tech Admission Through KCET:
After the result announcement of KCET, Karnataka Examination Authority will release the merit list of eligible students to participate in the KCET Counselling session. The candidates will prepare the Merit List/ Rank List based on marks scored in the KCET entrance exam and 10+2 examination marks. Candidates whose name appeared in the merit list need to participate in the counseling as per the given schedule. Once the counseling process is done, seats will be allotted for the candidates based on their merit rank, choice of preference, and availability of seats.
Karnataka B Tech Admission Through COMEDK UGET
COMEDK UGET is another entrance examination conducted for the candidates aspiring to get B Tech admission in Private Engineering Colleges of Karnataka. After the Result Declaration, a separate merit list will be prepared based on the candidate’s marks obtained in the entrance exam. Candidates whose names present in the merit list are eligible to participate in counseling sessions.

Karnataka B Tech Counselling through KCET:
Step 1-Registration: To take part in KCET Counselling, Candidates need to register themselves by providing the details and by paying the stipulated counseling fees
Step 2-Documents Verification: Candidates need to visit the designated counseling center and original educational certificates as per the prescribed schedule. KEA will conduct the rank wise document verification process on different dates. Therefore, candidates must be aware of the schedule according to their rank.
Step 3-Unique ID and Password will be issued: After completing the document verification, Authority will issue the verification slip along with the Unique ID & Password for the candidates, which must be used for exercising their choice of preferences.
Step 4-Filling and Locking Choices: According to the given schedule, verified candidates need to visit the official portal of KEA to fill up the option entry form. After visiting the portal, candidates must click on the available login link and sign up by entering the Unique login credentials, which was declared after the verification process.
The List of B Tech Colleges and B Tech Specializations will display on its portal, and candidates are required to choose the maximum number of choices to increase the chances of securing B Tech admission. Then candidates are advised to lock the choice for the confirmation.
Step 5- Seat Allotment: Candidates will be selected based on the choice of preference and merit rank, Once the seat allotment process is done, candidates need to take the print out of the seat allotment order, which is made available on the official website of KEA and then candidates need to report for the allotted institute and must submit the allotment letter along with other documents and must pay the required fees to confirm admission
Karnataka B Tech Counselling through COMEDK
Step 1-Reporting & Check-in process: According to the schedule released by COMEDK, candidates required to attend the counseling session. COMEDK organizes counseling sessions according to specific rank wise on different dates. Candidates need to show the documents at the checking counter at the counseling center, and then they will allow completing the further process.
Step 2: Document Verification Process: In the counseling hall, candidates must fill in two counseling cards and arrange the relevant educational documents according to their order. Once the document verification is done, candidates will proceed to the next stage.
Step 3: Photo Verification & Biometric Authentication: At the Counter, the respective officer will authenticate the identity through bio-metric and complete the photo verification process. Verified candidates will receive the registration slip.
Step 4- Seat Selection: Candidates need to proceed to the seat selection counter and choose the three desired engineering colleges and B Tech specialization. The List of the course & colleges will display on the computer screen. After filling up via online mode, candidates need to wait for the rank announcement; they need to select the seat according to their rank. Then, candidates will receive the acknowledgment letter of the seat allotted.
Step 5: Demand Draft Deposition: Candidates need to visit the DD deposit counter and must submit the stipulated fees through Demand Draft along with seat allotted acknowledgment letter
Step 6: Collecting original Allotment Letter: Candidates will be called as per their rank wise; Candidates need to collect the original seat allotment letter & fees payment receipt at the counter, and then candidates need to report for the respective allotted institute and should pay the remaining tuition fee for admission confirmation
