Eligibility Criteria for B Tech Admission in West Bengal
Academic Qualification: Candidates seeking to apply for B Tech admission in West Bengal must meet the minimum eligibility criteria prescribed by the authority. The candidates' basic eligibility shall have passed in 10+2 examination with a minimum 45% aggregate score from any recognised board (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as main subjects). There will be a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks as per the government norms, which is applicable for the candidates who belong to the reserved category. Hence, candidates can secure a minimum of 40% aggregate score in the qualifying examination. The lower age limit of the applicants must be 17 years to get eligible for admission.

To secure admission into the B Tech program in West Bengal, Candidates need to clear either state level entrance exam WBJEE or national level entrance exam JEE Main. Whereas in IITs, admissions will be granted based on JEE Advanced valid score. Candidates featured in the WBJEE General Merit Rank List are qualified to take part in counselling sessions. Also, candidates with valid JEE Main scores are eligible to take part in the E-Counselling session.
Step 1-Registration: Candidates must visit the official portal of WBJEE to register online for the E-Counselling process. Candidates are required to enter the details to create an identification code & password (login credentials). Candidates need to enter their registration number and upload the scanned image of the Photograph & Signature in the prescribed format.
Step 2-Payment of counselling fees: At the next step, candidates are required to pay the WBJEE counselling processing fees, which costs INR 500 via online mode
Step 3: Option Filling & Locking: Candidates must log in to their registered account using the credentials generated during the registration process. Then proceed to fill up the colleges according to the order of preference. Candidates are advised to choose a maximum number of colleges. Once the choice filling is done, candidates are required to lock the option and click on submit.
Step 4: Seat Allotment: After completing the options filling & locking process, seats will be allotted for the candidates based on their rank, choice of preferences. To view seat allotment orders, candidates must log in to the portal and access the seat allotment order. If candidates accept the seat allotment order, they need to pay the seat acceptance fees of INR 5000 and download the allotment order.
Step 5- Document Verification: Then eligible candidates are required to report at the allotted institute and must complete the document verification process
