Management Aptitude Test [MAT]
MAT or Management Aptitude Test, happens to be a national level entrance examination organized every year by AIMA, or the All India Management Association. Candidates who are willing to seek admission in management education can appear for this entrance test. The examination is conducted four times every year in December, February, September, and May. Students of architecture, medicine, engineering, science, and computer science can appear for the test to pursue a career in management.

The examination is conducted both in computer and paper modes. Candidates can select a computer-based entrance examination or a paper-based examination, depending on their convenience. Candidates need to fulfill the eligibility criteria for appearing in the exam. It is essential to check the criteria to avoid confusion later on. The entrance test for MAT comprises 200 questions. There will be a negative marking of 1/4 for every wrong answer. The MAT test primarily comprises five sections, including data analysis, mathematical skills, intelligence, comprehension, and critical reasoning.
There is no age limit for appearing in the MAT test. Students of any age can appear for this entrance examination. Candidates who are willing to appear for the MAT test can apply online. MAT 2025 Exam Date
There is nothing to worry about if candidates did not clear MAT in the first attempt or could not appear for MAT in February. MAT exam takes place four times a year in February, May, September, and December. It has both paper-based tests and computer-based tests, and below tabulated are the tentative dates of the MAT exam for the February and September session.
- From the table below, one can get an idea of when to register, receive the admit card, and the MAT exam date beforehand so that one can prepare accordingly.
- The total duration of the MAT test is 2:30 hours.
- In total, there are 3 different modes of taking the MAT examination. Candidates can choose one at their convenience and are:
- Paper-Based Test (PBT): While registering for the MAT, candidates will choose 5 colleges. A sealed question booklet and an OMR answer sheet will be provided inside the examination hall. Once darkened, answers cannot be changed, and only black or blue pens should be used.
- Computer-Based Test (CBT) – Similar to PBT, candidates can choose 5 colleges while registering; in the examination venue, candidates need to sit in front of the computer, so they must be familiar with computer monitoring usage. Once answered, it can be changed by selecting another option.
- Both PBT & CBT—Here, candidates have the option of choosing 2 more colleges, for a total of 7 colleges, which can be opted for at the time of registration. The rest of the procedure is the same as PBT and CBT separately.

MAT 2025 Eligibility criteria
Before applying or filling out the application form for the MAT 2025 Exam, aspirants must be aware of the MAT 2025 eligibility criteria to help them go ahead with the further process and not get the application forms rejected.
- Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university in any discipline is required, and final-year students of their graduation can also apply for the MAT Exam. The minimum percentage of graduation differs depending on the participating MBA institutions in the MAT Exam.
- Job Experience: To apply for MAT, prior work experience does not count. Basically, it is not required.
- Age: There are no criteria for age limits; candidates are not prohibited from applying for the MAT Exam because of their age.
- Maximum Attempts: As given above, the exam will be conducted four times in a year, and regardless of their previous attempts, aspirants can appear for the MAT exam however many times they want if they feel the score is low and can improve by taking one more chance, however, the latest score will be taken into consideration.
- Nationality: To sit for the MAT exam, Indian and foreign nationals are allowed, and the eligibility criteria are the same.
MAT 2025 Application Form & fees
With the basic eligibility to apply, candidates can register themselves online, which is on the official website of AIMA, and there is no other mode available. In total, 4 times, the MAT 2025 application process will commence. once the application forms are released, aspirants will have to register and go ahead with the MAT application process. Aspirants are advised to read the form thoroughly and fill in the complete, valid details.
How to apply for the MAT 2025 Exam:
Step 1: MAT 2025 Online Registration
Visit the official portal of AIMA, now click the register button to proceed with the registration. The application process is possible only if the candidate registers by creating an account. Through the OTP process, the student's email ID and phone number will be verified. Name, DOB, Email-ID, Mobile Number, and Password are a few pieces of information that has to be filled in while registering.
Step 2: Filling the application form:
Candidates will fill out the application form with complete details, making sure the provided information, like personal details, education details, and their priorities or choices given are correct. Details like Test Taking Option, Test Center, Personal Particulars, Qualification, Photo ID, choice, etc.
Step 3: Upload a photograph and signature.
After filling in the complete details in the application form, the candidate’s photographs and signature need to be scanned, and a copy will be uploaded. Recent passport size colour photographs are required, preferably with white background. On white paper, write your signature with a black ink pen and only scan the signature area.
Step 4: Payment of the MAT 2025 Application Fee:
In the procedure of filling out the application form, candidates have the option to make the payment through a card or credit card, or net banking, or it can also be submitted via demand draft (DD). The MAT application form differs slightly based on the mode of test.

MAT 2025 Admit Card
AIMA will release the MAT 2025 Admit Card after MAT online applications are accepted, and you can download the admit card from the official port. Downloading the admit card facility will be given only for certain days, and within that, candidates should have downloaded. For MAT paper-based exams and MAT, computer-based exams, separate MAT admits will be announced by AIMA. Once the exam is over, Admit will close the card download process by AIMA. MAT 2025 Counselling & Admission
Nearly in 600 B-Schools, there will be admission opportunities opening for MBA aspirants because it is considered one of the prestigious entrance exams. There will be several MBA and PGDM candidates willing to seek admissions.
- MAT admissions to MBA colleges will be made based on the candidate’s aptitude test performance, and for those participating colleges, candidates need to apply individually.

MAT Cut-off:
The MAT cut-off can either be in marks or percentile form. Usually, the cut-off ranges from 250 to 700. However, cut-off differs for each college depending on factors like the total number of test-takers, difficulty level of the MAT test, the total number of seats the institute offers, and the number of applications the institute has received.
