Following are detailed the passages which describe the pattern of the questionnaire, which are helpful to the candidates preparing for the IIFT Exam:
General Knowledge and Awareness:-
Questions from this section are framed to assess the students' general knowledge. Questions are asked from International Bodies, their functions, their chief personals, and their offices. For instance; United Nations, IMF, BRICS, etc., Major Sporting Events and Awards of the year like Olympics, Winter Olympics, CWG India, Asian Games, Tennis, Cricket, Football, Chess, Billiards, etc., Major Political events, Other economy-related events like FDI, FII, Stock Market, etc. To do well in this section, students must develop a habit of reading newspapers regularly and referring to other General knowledge journals.
Generally, the GK cut-offs are proportionately lower. So, it is not necessary to crack the GK section. Students should try to attempt sufficient questions to clear the cut-off. Even if you can attempt 14-15 questions with, say, 11 correct, you should do well. Concerning GK in IIFT, another point is that the exam has a lot of matching the column kind of questions. This, in a way, is a blessing because each answer option has multiple combinations given. So, even if you don’t know the answer to all 4 varieties, there is always the possibility of knowing 1 or 2 of the combinations and getting the answer using elimination.
English Comprehension:-
Students having a good command of the English Language will not find answering questions from this section too difficult. Students should have sound knowledge of the following topics: Contextual usage, Comprehension of passage, Fill In the Blanks, Verbal Reasoning, Syllogisms, Jumbled paragraphs with 4 or 5 sentences, Analogies, Antonyms, Errors in word choice, Sentence correction, Foreign language words used in English, one-word substitution, Sentence completion, the odd man out, idioms, Conditionals & Multiple Usage, Different usage of the same word, mania & phobia, Proverb, Incorrect words, Mood, Punctuation, Phrasal verb, etc.
Quantitative Analysis and Logical Reasoning:-
Students generally find answering questions from this section quite time taking and tricky. But students having a grip on quick calculations and knowledge on implementing calculation shortcuts do find solving problems from this section attractive. This section is actually quite scoring, and students generally score high in this section.
