South Asian University is an global university situated in Delhi. The institute started its operations in 2010. SAARC sponsored it (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). The first academic sessions of the SAU were started in August 2010 with two PG academic courses in Economics and Computer Sciences at the temporary campus Akbar Bhawan. The South Asian University Delhi Permanent Campus is located at Maidan Garhi in South Delhi, next to IGNOU.
All the members of SAARC recognize the degrees offered by SAU as per the Inter-governmental agreement signed by the foreign ministers of the eight SAARC Nations. (India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka). Therefore, SAU attracts candidates predominantly from all eight SAARC countries. There is a provision for Country Quota System for admission. Every year, SAU conducts entrance tests at multiple centers in all 8 nations.
Courses offered by South Asian University include different postgraduate & research courses. It comprises the departments such as the faculty of mathematics & computer science, the faculty of life sciences & biotechnology, the faculty of economics, the faculty of social sciences, and the faculty of legal sciences. South Asian University Master Programs are MA, MSc, and LLM. In addition, it offers a Ph.D. in varied disciplines. The University currently is not offering any UG courses as of now.
South Asian University International relations are a major area of emphasis. Thus, it is a major stream

South Asian University Alumni are managed through a network known as the Alumni Association of SAU New Delhi. There are different members of the University known as regular & associate. The highlights are:
- The regular membership is open to all students
- The associate member is available to the present & past faculty members
- The membership fee is a mandatory annual fee to be paid by the students of the South Asian University to bring forward a suitable participation
- There is a general body, executive committee, and election committee to ease the operations of the University
South Asian University Infrastructure and Facilities
- Library: The library at South Asian University is spread across an area of 4500 sq. ft. There are books covering topics like mathematics, biotechnology, sociology, and public relations. There are more than 14000 books available with a good seating capacity. The Information & library network is a prominent attraction of the library
- South Asian University Hostels: The University tries to offer good residential accommodation facilities to the students. Although, the facilities are not offered to every student due to the limited capacity. There is a separate facility for both men & women to organize effective operations under Hostel Management Committee.
- Medical Infrastructure: The students are covered under the medical Insurance Scheme where the full premium is provided for having a self-owned health center
- Grievance Redressal: The process of redressing grievances is quite transparent in the South Asian University for catering to the needs of the students in a proper manner.
