Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), Gangtok was established in the year 1995. It is the first government-private initiative in the region. The university has been approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Medical Council of India (MCI) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
