Sethu Educational Trust founded the Sethu Institute of Technology in 1995 with the motto of "Knowledge, Progress and Service." Initially, the college started its academic session with three B Tech programs with an intake of 180 students. Currently, the student strength is 4800 and offers 13 B Tech Specializations and 5 M Tech Specializations. In addition, the institute provides Ph.D. programs in five science and technology fields. In 2012, UGC was granted autonomous status. It is allied with Anna University. Sethu Institute of Technology NAAC Grade is "A." SIT ranked third among engineering institutions in Tamil Nadu's southern area and among the top 30 engineering colleges in the state overall.
Sethu Institute of Technology admission for B Tech is based on 10+2 merit followed by TNEA Counselling. Anna University will administrate the counseling. B Tech admission seekers must register for TNEA based on their 12th class marks. Later, Anna University will compile the scores of 10+2 and prepare the TNEA Rank List. Each registered student will be allotted TNEA Rank. Such students must participate in counseling. Sethu Institute of Technology Counselling Code for TNEA is 4917. Passing the TANCET exam and a counseling process determines eligibility for admission to M Tech programs.
Students who do not meet the Sethu Institute of Technology cut-off point will be allowed to choose management seats. The Sethu Institute of Technology Management Quota fee will be more expensive than the standard fees. The fee for B Tech is approximately INR 50,000 k per annum. In contrast, the M Tech cost for two years is 1 Lakh.
Sethu Institute of Technology's online application form is available on the college website, and interested candidates must complete and submit it. To access the Sethu institute of technology merit scholarship, students must appear for the eligibility test conducted by the institute. The college also provides state- and federal-level scholarships. The exam period will be 60 minutes, and the total number of questions is 50. (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and General Knowledge are the sections that exist in the exam)
The teachers and students at Sethu Institute of Technology have access to many amenities. There are separate for both boys and girls. The residence hall for females is very spacious with 52 well-furnished rooms, accommodating 282 students. In contrast, the hall of residence for Male candidates can accommodate 364 students. All the necessary amenities are made available in both the hostels. Sethu Institute of Technology hostel fees depends on the type of occupancies students opt for.

Sethi Institute holds the privilege of recording the Highest Number of Placements (Multinational Companies) in Southern Tamil Nadu. SIT placement cell helps students develop their communication skills, one of the abilities and competencies most sought after by employers. It also acts as a conduit between students and employers. Top recruiters include HCL, Infosys, Madurai, Sanmar Group, Kay Jay Forgings, Sundaram Fasteners Ltd (sfl), and others.
The vice-principal of the institute leads the Placement and Training cell (TPC), which is very active and effective. In addition to holding recruiting drives, the Sethu Institute of Technology Kariapatti placement cell provides students with overall development services and helps them land the employment they want. TPC offers internal and external training courses to prepare students for job interviews. During internal training, students are instructed in general aptitude, technical, communication, and soft skills. External training includes preparation for interviews that is specific to a company.
