The Nair Service Society established the NSS College of Engineering (NSSCE) in 1960. The premium engineering institute is in Kerala, located 9 km from Palakkad town. NSS College of Engineering Palakkad is AICTE recognized. NSS College is the very first Government aided Institute in Kerala to have NBA-accredited Engineering courses. Until 2014, NSSCE Palakkad allied with the University of Calicut. But now, the college affiliation is with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (APJKTU).
In the beginning, the college offered three Engineering streams. Now the NSS College of Engineering Palakkad courses includes six Engineering departments. The Institute strives toward quality education with degrees both in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The offering degree in the UG program is Bachelor in Technology (B. Tech), and the PG program is Master in Technology (M. Tech). NSS College of Engineering Fees for B Tech is INR 8k per annum. The fee for M Tech courses is INR 11k.
NSS College fosters education with its various student body clubs. The Institute includes technical clubs like Free and Open Source Software Cell (FOSS), TinkerHub, iEDC, IEEE- SB, Electronics and Communication Department Students Association (ELACSTA), and Wildlife & Forestry Club. The NSSCE Palakkad has two units of the NSS. Units 128 & 198 have five functional branches that aid in student development.
NSS College of Engineering admissions is based on entrance test performance and merit in academics. Students applying for B Tech must qualify in KEAM (Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination), conducted by CEE, Kerala Government. 85% of seats are filled based on KEAM merit, followed by counseling conducted by CEE. The remaining 15% of seats are reserved for the NSS College of Engineering Management Quota. Students can apply for M Tech admission based on their GATE Score. Besides, NON-GATE applicants can get admission based on their previous exam qualifying marks. They shall have attained a min of 50% at the UG level. Students must qualify for the NSS College of Engineering Cut off criterion to be eligible for admission under Govt quota.
The NSS College has a sprawling campus area of 125 Acres. The campus houses various engineering departments, a library, canteen, Seminar hall, auditorium, Central Computing Facility, and Sports unit. The campus has a hostel on the premises with separate dormitories for boys and girls. NSS College of Engineering Palakkad hostel monthly fee is INR 2,000/-.
The NSSCE has a rich history in the education system. Its legacy of producing brilliant engineers is reflective of its Alumni roster. Some of the NSS College of Engineering's notable Alumni are Prakash Bare and M Sivasankar. The Alumni Chapters of NSSCE unite former students to build a strong corporate network.

NSS College of Engineering Placement
There is a dedicated NSS College Palakkad placement Training & Information Bureau (PTIB). The cell conducts various workshops for students to be industrial-ready. It also supports infrastructure for introductory Placement Talks, aptitude tests, Group Discussions and Interviews. On an annual basis, more than 75+ companies visit the campus. The top recruiters are TCS, QBurst, TATA ELIXIS, MRF, South Indian Bank, WIPRO, Mu SIGMA, etc. NSS College of Engineering's highest package was INR 35 Lakhs per annum.
