Founded in 1968 and it is approved by Medical Council of India. North Bengal Medical College is affiliated to West Bengal University of Health sciences. The College is situated in Sushrutanagar, 8 km away from Airport (Bagdogra) and 11 km from New Jalpaiguri Junction train station. The institute and hospital buildings, which are located on an extensive campus of 0.65 km², are interconnected by huge long corridors that are 2.6 km long. It not only offers classes for MBBS students, but is also grown by offering its sister institutions such as the College of Nursing and North Bengal Dental College on the same campus.
- The hospital associated, has a bed capacity of 862 with 12 Units and serves a large population in North Bengal along with other states. The hospital offers indoor and outdoor services, physiotherapy, accident care center, VCTC, counselling, ART center, CT center, preventive cardiology, telemedicine, etc.
- The entrance exam application form fee for reserved category candidates is INR 1500 and for general category candidates the fee is INR 2000.

Very positive reviews are there about this college in terms of the infrastructure, education, hostel, curriculum etc. North Bengal Medical college admission currently is been through the national level test named as NEET. The NBMC fee was also less so it is like the best institute under government management for doing MBBS course. It is actually built in the year 1968 so since then they have been imparting a very systematic medical curriculum for the students of Darjeeling and the neighbouring districts of the West Bengal. NBMC MBBS fee structure is almost INR 60,800 that’s all as this is the government college.
