National Power Training Institute is situated in Nagpur, which is also shortly known as NPIT of Nagpur. The Ministry of Power governs NPIT. NPIT was started in 1975 and is ranked No.1 consistently among other regional institutes for the last four years.
- NPIT has programs that are for a short-term duration and also long-term programs. It has trained more than 140,000 students for over four decades. There is also an MBA program for power management and is the flagship program that helps at the camps of NPIT.
- NIPT is an autonomous educational organization that fulfills education in the power industry in-country and abroad. NPIT is the national body for training in the power sector by meeting the industry specifics. It is the only kind in the whole of India to offer education in the field of power sector besides petroleum university and energy studies.
- NPIT has full scope, high tech, and well-tuned 210 MW real-time fossil fuel simulators, the replica of MSEB. This facilitates the conventional mode and CRT keyboard of control room operation.
NPIT offers CBT, which is computer-based teaching, which is considered an effective way of delivering high-quality instruction. CBT packages have been developed in thermal generation, hydro generation, transmissions and distribution, management, and renewable.
