National Law School of India University Bangalore came into presence through a Notification under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986). It indicated the culmination of efforts by the Judiciary, the Bar Council of India, the Karnataka Bar Council and Bangalore University to reform legal education and establish a centre of excellence for legal education and research in India. The varsity has a sprawling 23-acre campus and houses multiple academic centres, state-of-the-art libraries and hostels. It also offers a variety of law courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
As per NIRF Rankings 2022, NLSIU Bangalore has been ranked #1 in the law category. UGC recognizes courses offered by NLSIU. Moreover, it is the first law college in the nation to launch a five-year integrated legal degree at the undergraduate level. For over 30 years, the University has conclusively been a national leader in legal education.

To apply for the specified programme, students must take the CLAT exam (Common Law Admission Test). The results of the CLAT exam will be the only factor considered in the selection process.
