Mangalore Marine College and Technology (MMCT) is the first and only institution in Karnataka that the Directorate General of Shipping and AICTE has approved. It offers a BE in Marine Engineering. In addition, it offers general BE Engineering Courses in MECH and CSE. It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). Mangalore Marine College and Technology Course Admission

Candidates seeking admission to MMCT must make sure they meet the eligibility requirements:

BE/B Tech Eligibility

  • Complete the 12th Standard or an equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as stand-alone subjects, with a minimum PCM average of 60%.
  • The applicant must have received at least 50% in the English language portion of the 10th or 12th-grade standard test.

Method of Selection:

  • Those who want to participate under the government quota must pass the COMED-K and KEA-CET exams. Following merit-based counseling in KEA-CET and COMED-K, the institute will be assigned by KEA and COMED-K.
  • After administering tests for IQ, reasoning, aptitude, and psychometrics, MMCT conducts interviews. Final decisions and admissions are contingent upon MMCT.

Graduate Marine Engineering Eligibility

Category 1: Mechanical engineering BE or BTECH with a minimum of 50% in the last year of study.

Category 2: A full-time Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree in any Mechanical Engineering program, such as Automation and Mechanical Systems, Mechanical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobiles, etc. However, the phrase "Mechanical" needs to come first, emphasizing that the second topic is an option and that mechanical engineering is the core.

Category 3: Applicants with degrees in any branch of naval architecture, such as naval architecture and shipbuilding or naval architecture and ocean engineering, etc. Nonetheless, the term "Naval Architecture" needs to come first, signifying that it is the foundational topic while the second is an option.

Medical Standard

  • Applicants must meet the requirements for medical fitness as stated in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as modified, with the exception of having vision up to (+ or -) 2.5 and being color blind. The recommended minimum height is 157 centimeters.

Notes:

  1. It is required that the applicant have completed the 10th and 12th grade exams from an accredited board.
  2. These applicants are waived from all subjects of Part 'A' of the MEO Class IV and MEO Class II grade exams.
  3. Candidates who are native to Lakshadweep, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, who are members of Scheduled Tribes, or whose parents were born there and are members of the Scheduled Tribes would receive a 5% relaxation in their English test scores.
  4. The candidates who fall under the General Category will be subject to the maximum age restriction specified above.
  5. Candidates who fall under the "Scheduled Caste" (SC) or "Scheduled Tribe" (ST) categories may be eligible to apply with a five-year age relaxation.
  6. Candidates from the non-creamy layer of the "Other Backward Classes (OBC) Category" would have a three-year age relaxation.
  7. A two-year age relaxation will be applied to the maximum age restriction for female candidates in each category.

About admission through management quota, I need.

Students shall have cleared the 12th examination with a 45% aggregate score in the science stream for eligibility to the B.Tech. Based on the minimum aggregate obtained by the candidate in the qualifying exam and availability of seats, direct admission or management quota admission for B.Tech at MMCT can be taken.

For candidates seeking M.Tech/ME admission at MMCT, it is not offered. Only undergraduate B.Tech/BE course is available.

BE fees in Mangalore Marine College cost nearly 2 Lakhs annually. Thus, the entire four years' total fees cost approximately INR 8 Lakhs.
