Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) is commonly known as MG University. It is a public university in Kottayam, Kerala, India. It was established on 2nd Oct 1983 on Gandhi Jayanti. MG University Kottayam is committed to promoting academic excellence, research and social development. It has produced many distinguished scholars, researchers and leaders who have made noteworthy contributions to their fields of study.
The University focuses on research-oriented teaching and offers UG, PG and doctoral programs in various fields of study, including arts, science, business, management, engineering, law and technology. UGC recognizes Mahatma Gandhi University Courses, and NAAC has accredited it with an "A" Grade.
The University has several academic departments, international and inter-university centres, aided affiliated colleges, autonomous colleges, self-financing departments and recognized research institutes. More than 300 Mahatma Gandhi University affiliated colleges are spread over five districts in Central Kerala. They are Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha.
The University has also established the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (CIR), which supports research in emerging areas of science and technology. CIR provides funding for research projects and supports collaboration between different departments of the University.

Mahatma Gandhi University Courses Admission
MGU Kottayam offers a range of courses, including UG and PG-level programmes. The admissions process at MG University is based on entrance exams and previous qualifications. However, before applying for admission in MG University, students must ensure the eligibility criteria.
- For admission to the MG University UG Courses such as BA, B Com, BCA, and BSc, a varsity will conduct CAP (Centralized allotment process).
- Students must qualify in 10+2 with a minimum aggregate mark to be eligible for admission. Thus applicants must attend the counselling process. Then, based on 10+2 merit, seats will be allotted.
- Henceforth, Varisty will create the Mahatma Gandhi University Merit List. Those names featured on the list must show up for the counselling.
- In case students seeking admission to the LLB must have completed a bachelor's with a minimum of 45% marks.
- Candidates seeking admission to the PG Courses must apply for Mahatma Gandhi University Entrance Exam, commonly known as MGU CAT. Besides, eligible students must attend counselling.
- For admission to the MBA, students can apply based on MAT, CMAT, CAT or Kerala MAT.

Mahatma Gandhi University Application Process
MG University accepts applications from qualified candidates through a centralized application process common to all its affiliated colleges.
- Candidates seeking admission can visit the official website of MGU Kottayam and apply online.
- Fill in the information to register for the program of your choice. You must have a valid email ID to apply online.
- Please save your academic grade details before submitting your application.
- Press the "register" button to submit as soon as the information filled in here is not changed.
- Confirmation of registration will also be sent to the email you entered.
- Now the candidate can apply and go for the next process.
- Enter all data carefully. Finally, submit the MG University Online application and print it for future reference.
- For General Candidates: the application fee is Rs.1100. For SC/ST Candidates from Kerala: Rs 550/- (Five hundred and fifty) for each programme/cluster of programmes listed as a single option.
After remitting the fee and ensuring the details are correctly entered into the application form, the candidate should click the Final Submit button.
