The Magna College of Engineering administered by JDN Educational Trust was founded by Mr. J. Devadas Nayagam in 1999. It is accredited by the Tamilnadu Govt. and recognized by the Council of Technical Education of all India AICTE in New Delhi. It is a Christian minority, an independent engineering school. The Magna College of Engineering is a well-founded organization with the vision of developing competent professionals. The mission of the institute is to help students develop their skills to acquire applicable technical knowledge and issue solving skills and to provide academic education, as well vocational education.

- The institute has a training and placement cell dedicated to the needs of organizations that conduct interviews on campus for internships.
- The goal of the shelter is to provide students with a supportive and healthy learning atmosphere and to promote the principles of community life for developing a healthy personality. Hostel is a best convenient place to study. The women's shelter surrounds the central fair with 11 well-ventilated triple occupancy rooms, each of 22 square meters, with private bathroom and dressing room. Men’s Hostel, the ground floor has 26 well ventilated triple occupancy rooms with an area of ??300 square feet with shelves built-in.
The library has a huge collection of nearly 30,005 volumes of 8,010 titles covering different disciplines of engineering, science and humanities, management studies. In addition to the library, it subscribes to 116 international and national journals, as well as 46 journals. The campus is located at kilometre 15 of Red hills.
