Karnataka Folklore University was set up with a particular desire to create a Folklore Studies platform. This is the only institute in Asia to provide learning, advanced teaching, and research to students and has devoted itself to excel in bringing the vision to reality.
- This university initiated folklore studies to integrate between the modernity and diverse traditions of Karnataka under the huge umbrella of the university where they believe in documenting and systematically offering the advanced studies of folklore and revealing the distinctive origins of Kannada traditions and identity.
- This university has been recognized as a nodal center for folklore studies and the central hub for exchanging intelligence between scholars and communities at large. This university aims to offer higher education, research, and development in all the related folklore subjects, art, theatre, food, cottage industries, etc.
This institute's mission is to create 3 separate and vibrant inter-related dynamic parts of the university, which are called Adhyayanaanga, Prasaaraanga, and Samsodhanaanga. They also aim to provide a broad-based education system, the native science of folklore, that will gradually provide discipline in multi branches of mythology. They also focus on providing opportunities for students in the cultural fields of Karnataka so that they can inculcate the knowledge of the heritage and traditions of Karnataka.
