JNCASR offers a number of courses at different levels. Some of them lead to officially recognized higher education degrees. These include a PG Diploma, MS (by Research), Integrated Ph.D., and Ph.D.

Those who wish to apply for these programs must meet JNCASR eligibility. For example, they must have a good score in GATE/GPAT/JEST/UGC NET/CSIR JRF/DBT JRF/INSPIRE JRF. Students also have the option of applying for a research scholarship. Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research Scholarships

The JNCASR offers scholarships for students to help them finance their master's program. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student's past academic performance and merit. They cover all or part of the tuition fee, living expenses, and travel costs.

Scholarships are also available for short-term and long-term visiting students. The types of scholarship packages are as follows:

Summer Research Fellowship: JNCASR offers summer fellowships for 2 months to students by GOI that support the Department of Science and Technology. Students are paid travel expenses and a monthly stipend of INR 10,000.

Fellowships Programs:

  • Ph.D. students will earn a JRF/SRF of INR 31,000 per month for the first two years. For the remaining 3 years, they will get 35000 per month as per the GOI guidelines.
  • For MS by Engineering, students will get a monthly stipend of INR 31,000. To attend international/national conferences, they get a travel grant of up to INR 40,000.  
  • Students of the Integrated Ph.D. get INR 19000/- for the first two years. And INR 31000 to 35000 for the remaining years.

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research Infrastructure Facilities

The JNCASR Bangalore campus has a variety of infrastructure facilities that support Research. These include a large research laboratory, an auditorium, and a conference hall that has seating up to 900 people. The institute also has a library with over 9600+ books, 3500+ scientific journals and articles, and more. The facility has a full-time IT staff that handles computer maintenance, networking, and data storage.

The admission process at JNCASR starts each year for various PG diplomas, UG, and Integrated Postgraduate and research-level courses. The institute has an online application process for admissions.

There is no B-Tech program offered at JNCASR. The available programs are M.Sc., M.Sc. + Ph.D., Ph.D., and PG diploma.

Candidates should have pass bachelor's degree from the relevant stream with a minimum 55% aggregate. Integrated Ph.D. admission at JNCASR is based on the university entrance exam. JAM score followed by an interview.

The M.Sc. course is offered in specializations such as biological science, chemical science and material science. Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research fee structure for M.Sc. is approximately INR 15K and beyond per year. The total course would be roughly around INR 1.64 Lakhs.
