International Council for Management Studies was established as the department of commerce of the Andhra University in the year 1950. It is the first institute which started with MBA program in India which is a distance education management education. The Indian institute of Management studies was set up with the collaboration of Harward Business School in the year 1963. It witnessed growth and improvement in early 60s in the commerce education and later in 80s it witnessed growth of institutes offering management studies in India.
