Institute of Medical Science, Varanasi, is one among the university's unit institutes called Banaras Hindu University located in Varanasi. This institute comprises three faculties: the faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Ayurveda, and the faculty of Dental Sciences.
- This is the only medical school under the Banaras Hindu University, and like every other medical college, it is a co-educational and residential college.
- This medical institute started functioning in 1960, consisting of 9 departments in the medicinal field and 8 Ayurveda departments.
- In 1971, the college was given the name Institute of Medical Sciences from the former name College of Medical Sciences.

- Institute of Medical Sciences- BHU fees are as minimal as possible because this is a public university operated under Banaras Hindu University. The MBBS fee is approx. INR 30,000 per annum and hostel fee should be paid separately.
- It has got the affiliation from its university, Banaras Hindu University, proudly offering medical, paramedical courses at UG and PG levels. A dental department offers BDS & MDS courses, and an Ayurveda department offering BAMS courses.
- IMS-BHU admissions for MBBS and BDS are made on a merit basis, and they will consider the NEET marks obtained by the candidates seeking admission for any of these courses.
- Likewise, Admission to BAMS and Nursing programs will be made based on the students’ performance in the university level entrance exam.
- The IMS-BHU campus is in the front and consists of a hospital, medical college, hostels, post office, playground, temple, and staff quarters.

IMS is a public institute although the course fee might be less but then seeking MBBS admissions is a big task. If you ask me is the institute is approved by MCI yes, Institute of Medical Science (IMS BHU) has the approval from Medical Council of India. Fee structure of IMS for MBBS in total is around INR 1.49 lakhs the fee of the course is less and feasible to all the students. When divided and paid the fee would be INR 29.7k for one year. NEET cut-off for general category students would be from 63-481 based on this admissions to MBBS will be offered.
