In distance education, ignou plays a major role in India. Like other states, ignou Hyderabad was established in 1987.
Late Pof. G Ram Reddy inaugurated this study centre to keep in mind reaching education with working professionals with less income.
- 26 Study Centres offer about 250 programs.
- Around 2 lacks enrolment from Hyderabad centre.
- In this centre for filling out the application, the form centre arranged various modes like a face-to-face kiosk system installed on premises for student help.
- Graduation in any discipline with 50 per cent marks for General Category and 45 per cent for reserved category.
- Bachelor's degree with three years of supervisory/ managerial/professional experience, or Professional Degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Medicine/ Architecture/ Law/ Pharmacy or Professional Qualifications in Accountancy/ Cost and Works Accountancy/ Company Secretaryship, etc. Masters's Degree in any subject.
- Clearance of OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU. The candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance test for admission into Management Programme conducted by institutions like CAT, MAT, and State level tests need not appear in OPENMAT.
- Non-graduates (10+2 or equivalent) with six years of managerial/ supervisory/ professional experience are eligible for admission into Diploma in Management only after clearing the entrance test.
Around 3500 books are available for students, and 50 journals are in the library. Monday to Friday, 10 - 5 students can use them. For placement, Ignou Hyderabad regional centre arranged Job Mela with multinational companies to help students get jobs.
