Heritage Institute of Technology has been ranked as the No 1 Private Engineering College in West Bengal. It has NBA and NAAC accreditation, as well as AICTE approval. It is popularly known as HITK or HIT Kolkata. The college is affiliated with MAKUT. The foundation behind the growth of HIT is the Kalyan Bharti Trust. It was set up in the eastern region of Kolkata in 2001 by a group of industrialists hailing from IT. The college has received the "Most Prefered Engineering College of 2020" Award and has been featured on NIRF Ranking survey. Regarding engineering colleges, Heritage Institute of Technology's NIRF Ranking is 201 for 2022.
Heritage Institute of Technology courses includes the B.Tech, M.Tech, and MCA programs. While the M.Tech program is a two-year program with only seven specializations, the B.Tech program is a four-year program with nine specializations. HIT courses require entrance exams for enrolment. The procedure for allocating seats is based on the candidate's preferred courses and the Heritage Institute of Technology cutoff.
Candidates must take the JEE Main or WBJEE entrance test and engage in counseling to be considered for Heritage Institute of Technology Admission in B Tech. MAKUT conducts PGET (Post Graduate Entrance Test) for admission to the M Tech. Suppose students have a valid score in GATE and will be excused from appearing in a university-based exam. Admission to the MCA is based on JECA or WBJEE Results.
In the B Tech admission process, 80% of seats are assigned for WBJEE Qualifiers. 10% of seats are allotted for JEE Main Rank Holders, and the Remaining 10% seats are reserved for Heritage Institute of Technology Direct admission.
The fees for B Tech are approx INR 1.16 Lakhs per annum. For M Tech, the cost is INR 1.31 Lakhs, and for MCA, candidates must pay nearly INR 1.51 Lakhs. To assist financially weaker students, college does offer scholarship facilities. Heritage Institute of Technology scholarships are available for B.Tech students from low-income families with funding from the Calcutta Club Ltd., Whereas the HIT Kolkata hostel fee is INR 58k per academic year.
A placement cell at HIT in Kolkata works closely with numerous businesses and organizations to put its students. Avery India, Pepsico, Wipro Technologies, Cognizant Technologies Solutions, ICICI Bank, Philips Carbon Black Ltd, HDFC Bank Ltd., etc., are a few of the best recruiters of HIT in which students have been placed through campus interviews.
Each department's HIT faculties are experts in their respective fields. All of the teachers are doctoral-level educators who deliver top-notch instruction. The applicants must pass the recognized admission exams before filling out the Heritage Institute of Technology application form.
