Government Medical College Amritsar was started in 1864 in Lahore, and it was relocated to Amritsar in 1920. It is affiliated with the Baba Farid University of Health Science and approved by India's Medical Council. It is also known as Glancy Medical College. This was the only medical college in Northern India in 1947. There are 951 beds for training students and 200 beds in emergency and special blocks. The college got a study hall and an extensive library in 3 buildings.

Before even Independence to our country the college was established and for this year it is been 100 years a century. They have nearly 7 hospitals affiliated where we can appear to attend internships also the hospital has their own standards and well adverse facilities. As known NEET is a mandatory entrance exam to appear, for seeking MBBS admissions at Government Medical College Amritsar. Being a govt. college no direct admission or management quota seats are entertained. GMC fee structure of MBBS for 4 years goes up to INR 4.4 lakhs under general category quota. GMC MBBS total fee can be paid in instalment that is to be paid as INR 80k in the 1st year, INR 90k in the 2nd year, so in the 3rd and 4th year it would be approx. INR 1 lakh, also in the final year it is INR 60k
