The Government College of Engineering &Technology (GCET) in Jammu was founded in 1994. The institute is affiliated with the University of Jammu and is approved by AICTE. GCET Jammu is the first engineering college that was established in Jammu Region. This institute has exceptional faculty that are well educated and support students in their career development. The major purpose of the institution is to create a vibrant, varied learning environment based on value-based visionary ideas, in which all complex members contribute successfully, productively, and wisely to the nation and world community. GCET Jammu Ranking is amongst the top colleges in Jammu, which makes this college an ideal choice for many students.

GCET offers admission to the B Tech in various streams, including Civil, Mechanical, EEE, ECE, and CSE. The departments which NBA accredits are ECE, CSE, and Mechanical. Students can also get admission for B Tech Later Entry if they have qualified for Diploma. From the academic year 2020 onwards, GCET started offering PG Degree M Tech in ECE, CSE, and Mechanical with an intake of 18 seats. GCET Jammu fee structure for B Tech is INR 35k per annum.

Students wishing to enroll in GCET Jammu courses must satisfy the minimum qualifying requirements. Applicants should have at least 50% in the 10+2 examination in the appropriate stream for UG programs, while applicants for PG courses should have at least 50% in a bachelor's examination. Students wishing to apply for  GCET Jammu admission to the B Tech are based on marks earned in the JKCET Entrance Exam. Candidates must produce the actual results card during counseling for the subsequent selection process. GATE scores determine admission to the M Tech in GCET Jammu.

The overall teacher capacity at GCET Jammu is 53, with 1112 students enrolled. In addition, there have been 34 assistant lecturers and 19 senior lecturers in the department. Seven members of the staff have earned Ph.D.s. The entire staff is dedicated to guiding students to a brighter future by instilling excellent values with relevant comprehension of and outside the prescribed themes.

Government College in Jammu offers various scholarships to deserving students, such as AICTE scholarships, Merit Cum Means Scholarships, and Post Matric Scholarships. These include grants such as Minority Post-Matric Scholarships, where Students with a minimum of 50% in their final test and an annual family income of up to Rs. 2 lakhs will be granted Rs. 3000.

The campus of GCET Jammu comprises dormitories for both boys and girls, labs, medical facilities, sports, and other amenities. In addition, students have access to recreational amenities. Each department at the institution features a laboratory where students may gain practical experience. The canteen is located inside the institution and serves healthy cuisine to staff and students. Day scholars are also provided with transportation services. This college has a modern IT Facility with cutting-edge software and hardware. GCET Jammu Hostel Fee Structure is around 6k per sem.

Government College of Engineering & Technology Jammu Placement

The college features a Placement and Training Cell that assists students with ample job opportunities. Students at GCET Jammu are also given four weeks of training/internship possibilities. The GCET Jammu Placement institute prepares students for the final job application process by organizing technical presentations, seminars, live projects, etc.

Several reputed organizations, including MNCs, have visited the campus for the recruitment drive. The placement cell firmly believes in Industry-Institute interaction. To accomplish this, it organizes various events and offers a great platform for budding engineers to interact with professionals from top companies. Students are personally trained by several reputable firms, including HCL, BSNL Telecom, and RLL Jammu.

Approximately 110 students were successfully placed by Satyam Computing Hyderabad, Punj Lloyds Delhi, Moberg Systems Punjab, Simplex Systems, and ZTE Bangalore.

Can I get direct admission to the B-Tech program at GCET?

Students looking for B-Tech admissions at GCET must have passed the 10th and intermediate exams in the science stream. Admissions are based on academic merit in the qualifying exam only, and no direct admissions are provided.  

What is the entrance exam required as selection criteria for engineering admissions in this college?

GCET requires the eligible candidates to have appeared for JKCET with the cut-off marks necessary to get into this college for a B-Tech degree.
