The G. S. Pillay and Sons Educational & Charitable Trust founded the EGS Pillay Engineering College in 1995 with the support of the Tamil Nadu government. It is a private institution with a 6-acre plot of land. The institute is allied with Chennai's Anna University. NAAC has accredited it with an "A" Grade. For education quality assurance, EGS has been certified by ISO. Furthermore, it has been recognized by UGC with a 2 (f) and 12 (B) Status. The campus is in Old Nagore Road, Thethi, Nagapattinam of Tamil Nadu State. The main vision of the EGS College is to transform the institution into a "Global Centre of academic excellence.

The college provides courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in engineering and computer application disciplines. EGS Pillay Engineering College includes B Tech, MBA, MCA, and M Tech. B Tech is available in 8 engineering disciplines with an intake of 60 to 120 seats per branch. EGS Pillay Engineering fees for B Tech are approximately INR 2 Lakhs. Students enrolling in MBA must pay the amount of INR 35,000. For M Tech, the total tuition fee is INR 1.02 Lakhs. Students who wish to get admission to the MCA must pay the fees of INR 35,000.
To get admitted, candidates must fulfill the eligibility conditions established by the college administration. EGS Pillay Engineering College Admission to the B Tech is based on 10+2 merit followed by TNEA Counselling. At first, applicants must fill out the online application form on the TNEA website to apply through TNEA counseling. Along with photocopies of transcripts, a printed copy of the application must be provided to the Secretary, TNEA, Anna University, Chennai. Later, the admission authority will publish the TNEA Merit list by compiling the scores of 10+2. Students can attend the counselling if their names excist on merit list.
Admission to the PG Courses such as MBA, MCA, and M Tech is based on TANCET, followed by the TANCA Counselling. However, ME candidates need not take the TANCET if they have a valid GATE score. For all the courses, admission will be granted per the guidelines of Anna University. E.G.S. Pillay Engineering College Counselling Code is 8208.
