In 1994, Burdwan University established its Directorate of Distance Education with the suggestion of the Distance Education Council. It is one of the pioneers in West Bengal with an initiative to promote higher education. The Burdwan University DDE campus is situated in the Golapbag campus, where all its administrative activities will occur. The University conducts regular counselling sessions for all its courses and runs efficiently. NIRF ranks the University of Burdwan Distance Education 92 for its academic performance.
