University of Calcutta alongside with Indian Jute Mills Association (IJMA) took a co-operative power over the Syndicate of Calcutta University to begin an Institution on Learning, Training and Exploration on Jute and Allied Fibre Technology , on  a part of acreage of Calcutta University taking an preliminary benefaction from IJMA and organising a Governing Council as Per University Syndicate determination  to govern this Institute as “Institute of Jute Technology” , while the establishment stone of this previous Institute of Jute Technology (IJT) was set by Mr. I.J. Kennedy, C.B.E., Chairman, IJMA on 20th  February, 1947  and this Institute was inducted by Dr. B. C. Roy, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of West Bengal, on 10th March, 1951 to twitch the expedition of justifiable Human Resource Development by accompanying all level of Edification, Preparation , Exploration and Methodological amenities on Jute and Allied Fibre Management & Technology mostly to produce Administrators, Executives, and R & D Workers  for  Jute and associated industry.

After adaptation of Institute of Jute Technology as an institute for post graduate technological department of University of Calcutta, the University of Calcutta is seriatim its B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. courses from University conservation grant from Govt. of West Bengal and as well  National Jute Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India is catering to the project centred  funding for running Productiveness oriented Courses like P G D in Jute management & technology course and few JLS Courses for Maintainable HRD for Jute Industry by 5 yearly on MOU basis endorsement of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India  from non-plan deposit of National Jute Board (NJB).

This department of University of Calcutta currently running few HRD Training Schemes for Jute Sector like, DCH HRD Project,  ISDS Project, DCH R&D Project, DCH Survey Project funded by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India.

Students are selected for B-Tech admissions in this college based on 10+2 scores and the WBJEE exam with a valid cut-off.

What is the application process to get into the B-Tech engineering course in this college?

The B-Tech program is offered in Jute and Fibre Technology stream for four years. The selection criteria for B-Tech admissions for those who have cleared in WBJEE entrance exam and board exam like 10+2 with at least 45% in its main subjects.

Hi,

Admission process for B.Tech:

  • Candidates can apply online/offline with the required information.
  • Admission is based on the merit list prepared taking the PCM marks, 10+2 aggregate marks and entrance examination score.
  • Admission is through counseling based on the rank obtained in WBJEE entrance examination.

The admission procedure for B.E

  • Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary (10 + 2) with 45% aggregrate marks in Science stream 
  • Candidate must be a WBJEE/ JEE Main entrance exam qualified to take admission in B.E programme.
  • The cost for the complete B.E course will be around INR 54,000.
  • Admission is through counseling based on the rank obtained in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations (WBJEE).
  • Vacant seats will be filled by the institute based on the rank obtained in JEE-Mains.
