DCRUST, originally Chhotu Ram State College of Engineering Murthal (CRSCE), is a Haryana state university in Murthal, Sonipat. In 1986, the Haryana government established it as a memorial to Sir Chhotu Ram (1881–1945). The state government promoted it to University on November 6, 2006, as a result of Act 29 of 2006 of the state's legislature to encourage studies and research in developing technical education areas. In March 2009, DCRUST was deemed eligible for funds under 1956 Section 12(B) of the UGC Act.

DCRUST aims to have a prominent position among the world's most prestigious institutions by excelling in teaching and research. The University offers 10 Regular UG Courses and 31 Regular PG Courses to deliver top-notch education. Additionally, DCRUST provides certificate and beginner courses in foreign languages like German and French and a PG diploma in forensic biotechnology. A few more UGC career-oriented programs are also offered to broaden engineering students' knowledge and skill sets. The 6 DCRUST BTech programs have also received accreditation from the NBA. In addition, DCRUST offers a Central Instrumentation Laboratory that can be used by researchers from all departments or outside institutions.

DCRUST has a set up of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The mission of IQAC is to create an excellent action plan to enhance the University's academic and operational performance. Furthermore, it is essential to support policies that will help institutions perform better by internalizing a quality culture that outlines best practices. Therefore, DCRUST NAAC Grade is an "A" grade for the first cycle in February 2017.

DCRUST Murthal has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with several universities, research institutes, and enterprises of national and international renown for staff and student exchange programs and joint research. The Rashtriya Uchattar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) also provides funding for the Institute. Numerous initiatives financed by the UGC, AICTE, DST, and DBT have been completed by various departments of DCRUST. University faculty members have been given research grants totaling INR 200 Lakhs.

The DCRUST fee structure is split into four categories. The first section of charges is the university fee that is to be paid once during the start of DCRUST admission. The second category of charges includes   University Fee, which are half-yearly payments. Finally, the third section comprises miscellaneous and Student Fund Charges, which are charged annually.

DCRUST university admission for all the courses is based on qualifying Common Entrance Examinations. Candidates are initially required to submit the application form, which is available online and offline from the University. Applicants must ensure the deadline, DCRUST application form last date. The student's selection is according to the merit list, which includes scores from the qualifying exam and national level entrance test. Additionally, candidates must take up DCRUST Entrance Exam for a few courses. Candidates are then required to attend the counseling of DCRUST university for the final step before admissions.

DCRUST UG admission

Admissions to the UG courses in DCRUST follow the AICTE-approved norms. In addition, students must attend either the DCRUST Entrance Exam or national-level entrance exams.

• B Tech admission in DCRUST Murthal requires all India JEE mains rank. Every year the Institute selects students concerning the cutoff ranking. Students who have not attempted JEE Main must appear for the entrance test conducted at the University level.
• Students applying for B Arch admission must have a valid NATA score. Besides, they shall have passed 10+2 in the science stream.
• DCRUST BBA admission is based on the university entrance test performance followed by counseling rounds. Even the process applies to both BCA and BSc courses.
• DCRUST BEd admission will also be on the merit list of the University Entrance exam. However, students shall have completed a bachelor's degree with the required aggregate scores.

DCRUST PG admission

At the PG level, the college offers admission to the M.Tech, MBA, M.Arch., M. Plan, MHA, and MA. Students shall have completed a UG degree with minimum marks to be eligible for PG courses. For some courses, national-level exam scores are considered. In addition, for a few PG courses, admission is granted based on the entrance test held by DCRUST.

• Admission to M Tech is based on GATE scores. In addition, students shall have a UG degree BE/B Tech with a min of 55%.
• DCRUST MBA admission requires scores from standard entrance exams like CMAT or university-conducted entrance tests.
• The remaining PG courses like MA, MHA, MArch, MPlan, MSc, and PGD demand students to sit in on the entrance examination regulated by DCRUST University.

The campus of the residential university DCRUST spans 273 acres of land. The campus has been designed architecturally into four separate zones: academic, residential, hostel, and recreational. Five blocks make up the academic buildings, including one for administration. One famous structure, the library, and Computer Center are already up and running, and a conference centre is being built.

The University's location is within one of Haryana's expanding industrial belts, which stretches from Kundli to Panipat. The campus infrastructure of DCRUST includes Bank, Central Instrumental laboratory, central workshop, Post office, hostel, cafeteria, guest house, research & development centre, computer laboratory, library, and sports unit. The DCRUST hostel has student-centric facilities with separate dormitories for boys and girls. Three girls hostel block and 4 boys hostel block houses 1,771 students.
