The establishment of Canara Engineering College (CEC) was in 2001. The Institute is AICTE certified. The Canara High School Association (CHSA) administers the institutions. The dedicated association is contributed to Konkani Linguistic Minority Education. The campus is located in Mangalore, Karnataka. The college offers undergraduate degrees in seven engineering programs. And a postgraduate degree in M.Tech Computer Science. Canara Engineering College Courses are VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University Belagavi) affiliated and accredited by NBA. Canara Engineering College's fee for B Tech ranges from INR 60,000 to 2 lakh, depending on the choice of specialization. Canara Engineering College course admission's seat allotment system for B Tech is as follows: Allotment of 40% of seats is through KCET. Canara Engineering College is part of the NSS (National Service Scheme). The NSS program service has a student body organization from all around India. The College also encourages innovative businesses in its Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC). EEE/ IIPC organizing body conducted various programs under EDC.
Canara Engineering College Mangalore has an alumni committee named the Alumni Association of Canara Engineers. The committee registration is under the 1960s Karnataka Societies Registration Act. The Alumni Association works toward connecting students who graduated from CEC. The committee is also a networking platform for current students. Students with four years of academic completion are eligible for a lifetime membership.

The placement portal of CEC has a Training and Placement Cell. The department strives to guide students further in their careers. The cell organizes various industrial skill-building workshops and seminars. The industrial schooling of CEC students takes place under the Employability Skill Enhancement training.
