The Bharathiar University is a state university in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It was established in February 1982 under the Bharathiar University Act, 1981 (Act 1 of 1982). The University Grants Commission recognizes the University. It has a large number of affiliated colleges. Its motto is "Educate to Elevate." The university's main objective is to give students access to education that is on par with international standards. It is done by imparting knowledge and skills to students, but it is also aimed at moulding them into better people committed to the needs of society and national development.
The University has received an "A" Rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council for its third cycle evaluation. Bharathiar University affiliated colleges include 13 government colleges, 3 constituent colleges, 1 Air Force Administrative College, 1 University PG Extension and Research Centre, 16 aided colleges, and 99 self-financing colleges. Under its affiliated institutes, the University offers various undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in various fields. Apart from regular full-time courses, it also offers distance courses. UGC recognizes all the Bharathiar University Courses. Besides, it holds accreditation and approval from NAAC, NCTE, ACU, and AIU.
By achieving rankings in the international sphere, Bharathiar University is moving closer to being a world-class university. The Bharathiar University's Intellectual Property Rights Division defends the rights of inventions by its academic and student researchers. In addition, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the Bharathiar University Centre for International Affairs (BU-CIA) promote the admission of international students (MEA). The University has established itself as one of the strong pillars of higher education in this region thanks to a dedicated team of teachers with extensive expertise in teaching and research and devoted and skilled administrative employees.
