Tezpur University was started in 1994 as a Central University in North-Eastern Assam called Tezpur. This University is not affiliated but is supported by Central University. Tezpur University offers various UG, PG, Certificate programs, PhD, and Diploma inclusive of respective specializations. The academic courses offer degrees in fields like Commerce, Science, Humanities, and Technology. Admissions to Tezpur University for any courses are possible depending on entrance exam scores conducted by the University. Some others the University accepts are JEE Main, GATE MAT/ CAT, etc., for B-Tech, M-Tech, and MBA programs.

The admission process at Tezpur University will happen in March of every year. According to the recent update, the application submission date for Tezpur admissions was extended till April 30 of this year for fresh admissions.

Here are a few admission selections based on online competitive entrance exams for integrated programs like B.Sc., BA, B.Ed, M.Sc MA, M.Com, MA, and M.Tech programs.

  • For B-Tech admissions at Tezpur University, it requires all India ranking in JEE Main scores, which the central counselling committee follows.
  • They also have direct admissions where the students have scored more than 80% in their state board exams.
  • If the candidates apply for the M-Tech program under direct admissions at Tezpur University, they must have an 85% or 8.5 CGPA in their UG degree. It must also clear the GATE entrance exam.
  • For Ph.D. For admission to TU, applicants must attempt the online test conducted by the University, followed by GD and PI. Qualified candidates from CSIR JRF-NET/UGC can attend the interview process.
  • For MBA or management admissions at Tezpur University, one must have a UG degree under a similar subject specialization and board exam scores. Management entrance exams accepted are CAT/ MAT/ GMAT or CMAT. The selection criteria are based on the performance in GD and PI.
  • The application form fee for general candidates is INR 700, and for reserved candidates, it is INR 350.
  • The payment can be made through Net banking or the Debit/ Credit Card facility.

Tezpur University Admission for B-Tech

Applicants of B-Tech in Tezpur University must score considerable marks in the JEE Main exam. This University offers up to seven specializations in B-Tech. Of the seats, 60% are reserved for students hailing from Assam or Tezpur, and 40% are allotted for AIR candidates according to the counselling process.

Admission for Integrated UG Courses

The only basic eligibility for integrated UG admission like B.Ed, BA, B.Sc, and B.Voc is passing marks in 10+2 in the relevant subject. This University organizes a self-entrance exam followed by PI and GD rounds to get admission to TU. After clearing the counselling process, the seat allocation is 60% for Assam state candidates and 40% for AIR candidates.

Admission for PG courses

M. Sc., MA, MTTM, M.Com course admissions with various specializations complimenting their UG degree in the relevant discipline. This University also offers integrated M.Sc /MA and other PG diploma courses with specializations.

The only selection criteria are that the students must qualify in TUET to get admission to the University. Seat allocation is done after verifying the availability of seats and documents.

Note: The M.Sc program in TU in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology will allot seats based on the Tezpur University entrance exam or with the combined scores of the JNU entrance exam.

 

Admissions for Ph.D.

The Ph. D. course at Tezpur University is offered in the School of Engineering, Management, Humanities & Social Sciences, etc. The applicants should compulsorily have a PG degree in the required subject specialization. The admissions are allotted as part-time, full-time, or fellowship, depending on the project of the fellow candidate. The percentage of seat allocation in the University is divided into 15%, 7.5% & 27% of the total seats for SC/ST and OBC candidates under the reserved category.
