Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women was set up in the year 1965 in Tamil Nadu. This institute envisioned offering extra good quality education by adopting the best teaching methodologies. They aim to cater to the requirement of higher education to minority communities and middle-class societies in Madurai. They offer a UG program in chemistry, English, History etc. this institute is well known and very reputed in the state of Madurai for providing excellent education at the degree level.

Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women started in 1965 and is accredited by NAAC also recognised by UGC. This is a government college affiliated with Madurai Kamaraj University. Just not academics, college venture the students to take part in extra-curricular or cultural or sports activities for the conceptual growth of the students.

The college envision imparting high quality of education in bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and research level programs. So they offer B.Sc., BBA, B.Com, BCA and BA there is M.Sc., MBA, M.Com, MCA and MA courses. Also, at the research level, there is M.Phil. and PhD programs presented in various disciplines.

Aspirants seeking admission to Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women will be offered considering their previous academic qualifying examination. The entrances are pretty strict that is applicants being completed previous education in relevant degree will be eligible to apply for the course. Still, the merit list will be displayed based on their marks obtained in the exam and college cut-off basis in the college notice board. The admission committee decides the counselling date and time for every course.
After the first counselling admission to Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women, any vacancy followed by 2nd round and 3rd round counselling is conducted from the waiting list, and the seats are filled accordingly.
Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women application process is done offline. Applicants need to collect the form from the college office and submit the duly filled form and the mentioned documents.

The government has reserved 69% seats for disadvantaged communities (1% for ST, 18% for SC, 30% for BC and 20% for MBC). Muslims belonging to Backward Communities are given 3.5% of reservation within the reservation of BC, and 3% of reservation is for Scheduled Caste Arunthathiar (SCA) within the reservation of SC.

After receiving the application forms from the college office, the admission committee prepares a computerised merit list based on the applicants' marks.

Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women Infrastructure:

Hostel: Hostels is situated inside the campus and surrounded by green gardens. There is a different hostel for UG and PG students. These hostels can accommodate up to 600 students, and there are nine wings in total for UG students and two wings for PG students.

Library: This College has well stocked with books, national journals and international journals, periodicals, magazines etc. they also have a borrow card facility where students can borrow books for their references.

SMGCW will consider graduation with TANCET scores for MCA admissions. Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women's cut-off for MCA through TANCET is 3.973.

Applicants must have passed a graduation degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% mark. The cut-off through TANCET is 51 for the MBA program.
