RAKCON is a pioneer institute for nursing education in India, offering foundation-level and higher education-level programs. The college is affiliated with the University of Delhi and is controlled financially by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Initially, in 1946, the college was set up to provide B.Sc. (Hons.) nursing. Later, in 1959, the Master of Nursing and M.Phil. were started in 1986, and lastly, in 1992, the Doctoral program was approved by the Department of Nursing.
All the candidates who have applied for admission to Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing for B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing is required to submit their Mark Sheet (10+2) or any other equivalent Exam from the science stream, which they have passed during the current year as eligibility for the course. Only women candidates are eligible to apply for the course.
Similarly, applicants applying for M.Sc. admission to Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing must submit a bachelor’s degree certificate completed with a B.Sc. or equivalent degree in a relevant stream. Those applying for Ph.D. in nursing admission to RAKCON must hold post-graduation in a relevant stream from a recognized university.
- The college conducts its own entrance exam to select the college and course candidates. All candidates, irrespective of reserved or non-reserved category, need to appear for the selection test to get seats for the course.
- The selection test will be of duration of two hours and thirty minutes (2 ½ hrs.) and shall contain objective-type questions (MCQs). The test syllabus is class 12th Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and few questions on English and general knowledge in health will be included.
- Candidates seeking admission to Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing should apply by filling out the college office's application form and making a payment of INR 550 through the demand draft. In contrast, the filled application form must be submitted to the college office by hand or by post.
RAKCON B.Sc :
- 10+2 or similar or equivalent examination with 50% or more marks in the aggregate of 4 subjects, including English and physics. Chemistry and Biology provided the student has passed in each subject separately.
- The minimum age requirement is 17 years.
- Only women candidates are eligible for the course.
- 22½% of the total number of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (15% for Scheduled Caste and 7½%for Scheduled Tribes) and 27% for OBC candidates.
Foreign Candidates :
- The candidate should have passed the last qualifying examination from a foreign University/Board.
- An international student must send her admission application form, which is available at the college, through her country's Indian Embassy. The application is to be recommended by the Ministry of Health/External Affairs, the Government of India, and the Foreign Student Advisor of the University of Delhi.
RAKCON M.Sc (Nursing) :
- A candidate must have passed B.Sc. Nursing with 55% marks in the aggregate.
- A Candidate has one year of experience in Nursing in an approved hospital/ educational institution or public health agency.
OR
- A candidate must have passed B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing examination (11+4) years of the University of Delhi or B.Sc. Examination in Nursing (11+4) years of experience is recognized as equivalent to it, with 55% marks in the aggregate.
- Two years of nursing experience in an approved hospital/educational institution or public health agency.
- 22½% of the total number of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (15% for Scheduled Caste and 7½%for Scheduled Tribes) and 27% for OBC candidates.
