How to get admission to R.G.Kar Medical College

R. G. Kar Medical College's admission process is a structured and competitive process offered for various UG and PG medical courses for students. This process aims to choose the right individuals who perform well academically and in the entrance examinations. As mentioned above, the following section presents the various activities characterizing the admission process.

Registration

Admission has various stages, the first one being registration. Students who wish pursue MBBS/MD/MS courses have to appear for entrance tests of their respective courses.

  • For undergraduate courses such as MBBS, candidates are to register for the NEET through websites that are operational under the NEET portal.
  • For postgraduate courses like MD, MS, M. Ch. For DM, candidates have to sit for the NEET PG examination, which is only available through the online portal for registration.

Entrance Examination

After registration, the candidates are also expected to write entrance exams that are also part of the requirements. The results of these examinations are important when evaluating candidates' suitability for the positions.

  • NEET: This exam is compulsory for students who wish to be admitted into the MBBS programme. It evaluates the learners in areas such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, among others.
  • NEET PG: It is mandatory to clear this entrance test to get admission in courses like MD, MS, M. Ch. , and authentic DM programs.

Merit List

According to the scores obtained in the entrance examination, the examination conducting authorities prepare a merit list.

  • The merit list contains candidates who perform well in the NEET or NEET PG exam score.
  • That means that the candidates with lower marks are eliminated, and only those with total marks equal to the cutoff marks are allowed to proceed to the next level.

Counselling and Seat Allocation

Candidates who offer the qualification(s) and get selected for the position are called for a counselling session.

  • In the counselling session, the candidates are allowed to choose their courses and the institution of their choice according to their rank.
  • Places that are awarded to the candidates are given depending on their rank, choice, and available vacancies.

Final Admission

Finally, the candidates are required to complete admission formalities after the seat allocation process.

  • The candidate needs to appear along with the documents on a particular date as mentioned by the organizers or institution.
  • The final stage is paying the R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital admission fees to reserve the seat and finalize the enrolment process.
  • To be considered for any of these super-speciality programs, candidates need a Master of Surgery (MS) degree in the relevant speciality area of interest. Like the other postgraduate courses, entry into an M. Ch. and DM program depends only on the applicant's performance in the NEET PG entrance examination.

R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital admission process will be based on the NEET ranking of the candidates. I got into this college with NEET ranking of 478 and was allotted with the seat post documents verification. During my batch the NEET examination consisted of 180 MCQ questions each fetching 4 marks for every right answer and -1 mark for every wrong answer. In case the rnakanainag is within 15000 there are chances of getting seat in this college as the R. G. Kar Medical College cutoff during my batch was 15000. Even college management is quite cordial and staff members are quite friendly.

R. G. Kar Medical College & Hospital direct admission will be not accepted the college authorities as the medical institute is been functioning under the west Bengal state government. R. G. Kar Medical College NEET cutoff during my batch was around 1372 to 4148 for general category, for the reserved categories like Scheduled cast the cutoff was 14452 to 23520 and for the scheduled tribe the cutoff being 42943 to 44111. R. G. Kar Medical College has no management quota admission so the only way to seek admission to any of the course will be through NEET or NEET PG entrance test.
