The College has a history of being the first institute of higher learning in Bihar to cater to women's needs. The college is currently managed by the Catholic Religious Sisters of the Apolostic Carmel, an educational body founded in 1870. The college was given a special status by the Government Of Bihar and was declared a religious minority college.
